Don't forget to clean the pump!
Updated review. The seller got back to me with a video showing how to clean the pump if it starts running like it did in my first video. See the updated video of the fountain running good as new with a clean pump! (Does this mean I threw out two older fountains that just had dirty pumps too? Aaaagh!)I've bought three of these fountains for my elderly cat over the years because she prefers moving water. The first two lasted longer than the current one. This fountain hasn't even lasted a year, and it's down to a trickle, as you can see in the video. I think I'll get her a different brand next time.

Super quiet; Nice size; Stainless steel++; Cats drink more
We've had this cat fountain for almost 2 yrs and it's still working great. We have 2 cats, 1 with long hair. We tried several water bowls & fountains before this one.(1) Water pump is quietest I've ever found, on any product with a pump. I'm about 4 ft from it now and if I listen, I can (maybe) hear the water softly falling but zero pump noise. I'm sensitive to noise so I love this technical achievement!(2) It's a good size so we don't have to fill it as often. The perforated steel cover reduces evaporation too. We have a ceramic fountain of similar size that doesn't cover the water reservoir and we notice the difference in water loss to the air.(3) The water reservoir is deep, which means the pump stays covered in water longer and is therefore less likely to run dry, preventing unnecessary wear and tear. Our ceramic cat fountain is wider and shallower so we need to add water more frequently to keep the pump covered in water and the fountain operating. For this fountain, add water when you notice the water streams have narrowed.(4) Stainless steel is definitely better at minimizing bacteria, mold, and other germs. I was reluctant to switch from a plastic fountain mostly because of cost, but the price of this one is excellent! Even though we washed the old plastic one frequently with soap and water, one of our cats started to develop dark spots under her chin which was cat acne. It can be caused by bacteria on plastic water bowls, even if the water is being circulated. The acne occurred more frequently as the plastic fountain got older (perhaps its surface got more nicked with time and created tiny places where bacteria grew more easily?). We haven't had that issue with the stainless steel (or ceramic) fountains.(5) I think cat hair is an issue in all water bowls and fountains. This fountain does the best job of keeping water flowing! The water in a fountain we used to have would stop flowing because cat hair easily blocked the uptake holes. It's true that doing a full cleaning on this one takes a bit of time but it's worth it, and actually more convenient imo than having to wipe uptake holes every day or two. I took it all apart two nights ago, washed very piece with soap and water, even used an old toothbrush to clean the crevices on the underside of the flower piece and was done in 15 minutes or so, including reassembly. I admit not every wash is that complete but that's how long a deep clean took. It's really not bad, especially if my partner & I take turns.(6) Assembly: It may seem complicated but the multiple filters on this fountain are worth it! There are no screws or latches. As long as the pieces are in the right bottom-to-top order and pieces with notches are lined up, it all goes together with just a half-turn here and there. Suggestion: snap a couple pics as you take it apart so you'll feel more confident when putting it back together.(7) Our cats are like the cats in research studies: they drink more water more often when the water is moving than they do from bowls of still water, regardless of how fresh the water in the bowl is.(8) Bonus advice: Avoid moving the fountain when it's full of water. Place it where it belongs and then fill it. Pour out the current water before picking it up. ;-) It's also lighter that way.

Updated review after less than year of use - Pump died and no response from seller
1/26/2022 - Update after less than a year of use. It's still a good fountain but the pump died. I understand that sometimes you just get a dud and I've been happy with the fountain otherwise. I reached out to the seller to inquire about a replacement pump since it has been under a year since I purchased it and haven't heard back from them. I'm hoping that my email was just accidentally missed and this get's seen.Original review -I really appreciate the VERY simple design, it's easy to clean/fill, very quiet, large reservoir for water, the fountain part is tall and there is not a far reach for my very senior kitty. She was having a hard time bending down, stretching, turning her head/neck awkwardly to drink from the last fountain I had.It is important to note that because the reservoir is enclosed and the top is like a strainer you will need to have a 2nd dish available that is open at the top. I found out the hard way when my power went out (just a simple breaker tripped) and the fountain was not running while I was not home. (not good for any cat but very bad for a senior with kidney disease and/or diabetes)Other than that it is a great product but I really wouldn't say it's a complaint cuz the benefits for my kitty outweigh having to put out a 2nd dish.

Good Fountain
We have had 2 of these fountains for just shy of a year and they are both still working great! The stainless steel top part's rim very quickly started looking scratched or like something was peeling off. Neither is true though. I tried everything to get it clean, but nothing will. It does not effect the fountain's use however and the cat doesn't drink from that part, so I can only say that it's a con, if you want it to be perfect. The inside and outside of the bottom where the water is held and the flat part where the cat drinks is pristine and as shiny as the day we got it.When you are cleaning the motor, take the entire thing apart. The side where the little door opens is the side that pops off. I use a sharp knife to stick down in each side to pry it up a bit to pop it off. Then I use the circle end of the brush to hook the impeller the take it out and clean it good. The little brush fits into every single part of the motor and entire unit. If your brush doesn't fit into the motor, it isn't taken apart fully.Be sure to clean your fountain well. It gets slimy in the plastic parts especially and no one wants their cat drinking water that slime is!If you clean it and keep it full enough not to burn your motor out, this will be a decent fountain for you.I have had many cat fountains. This one is by far the easiest to clean and put back together quickly. Also, it isn't noisy unless you don't have the parts clicked in or tightened correctly or sometimes when the water gets low. That being said, check the water often. Ours has gotten low many times without any warning. All in all, it does what it's supposed to and our cats love it.

Nice fountain. Easy to use and clean.
The fountain is the right size and It is cleaner than the plastic fountains. It is basically assembled when it is received. The customer service that is provided from the company is amazing. I needed a small issue resolved and they responded immediately. Highly recommend.

Splashes water
The cats like it and both use it but it seems to hit the metal tray and splash sometimes.
