Pretty straightforward. Depending on the type of Heat and/or AC that you have will depend on how you wire it. The instructions in the box give you the needed info to wire it to the proper style as well as program it as needed. As long as you read the instructions as you install it, you'll be fine. There are a few styles of system that it will NOT work with, but those systems are listed in the item description, so make sure you read before purchasing..... I have a heat only 24VAC baseboard water heat system and a 2 wire connection and it works perfectly fine. Again, as long as you confirm your system is compatible prior to purchasing and then read the instructions BEFORE miswiring something, you'll be fine. The programming options are a 7 day schedule, so you can not set something different for weekday vs. weekend. It will have to be the same for all 7 days, though you can temporarily or permanently override the programming as needed. You can set 4 different programming slots in a given day; wake up time, leave house time, return home time, and sleep time. I've had it installed for a few days now and it's very straight forward. For the price you can't beat it.

Wanted simple. That's what I got. Works like a charm. Easy install. However, set up instructions overly comlex and poorly worded. Most people just want their heater,ac to come on at a certain temperature. That's it. Insructions unclear on this point. Instead, the instrctions go on and on about programing your thermostat. All well and good, but first take care of the basics.

Winter is here and I finally got tired of every night turning down the thermostat to our oil burner furnace. And then in the morning, turning the heat back up. I had one of those old round mercury filled thermostats and decided to get the Honeywell Home RTH221B1039 1-Week Programmable Thermostat. I didn’t need anything fancy and only had two wires to hook up. Easy install and easy to program. I just use it for heating but it can be set up for simple a/c function other times of the year. Good deal if you only need the basics. p.s. Dispose of the old thermostat appropriately at your local hazardous material facility as it has mercury in it.

Old Honeywell thermostat stopped working. Received the replacement unit in three days. The defective unit is also Honeywell but of an earlier model. I removed the faceplate on the defective unit and did the same with the new one. I didn't remove the wall plate on the old unit but rather snapped the new faceplate on it and it works perfectly. I don't know that will work on brands other than Honeywell but it saved a bit of work in my case.

Pro's.... Nice thermostat, simple operation, gets the job done.Con's.... Very slow to react to actual room temperature changes. This can lead to heating well above the set temperature in rooms that are quick and easy to heat. I used two mechanical thermostats to monitor actual room temps along side the new unit. I set the temp on the thermostat to 65F... the room temp dropped to 62F before the thermostat finally registered 64F and kicked on the heat. After which the room reached an actual temperature of 72F before the thermostat caught up and read 65F again and shut down. This is not a swing temp issue, this is s simple case of a slow reacting thermostat. Very poor performance in that area.

5 star just wish it had a backlight display.
