Penn-Plax Aquarium Decoration with Moving Treasure Chest, Floating Diver and Bubble Action, 4 Inches High

Out of the box, it looks great, but had some very sharp edges on the anchors. I sanded them down with sand paper and it's fine now. Had minor flaking of the gold paint on the masts, but it stopped after a bit, just loose bits of paint flaking off I guess. All fixtures should be washed before placing them anyway. The ship is lightweight because it's plastic, but it's still heavy enough to feel solid, and it is built sturdily. Some parts can be separated if needed and put back together. It should have no problem sinking and remaining underwater, but I did not test that. I also did not test the bubble function, but it probably would work so long as the air pressure is reasonable. There is space under the deck of the ship so that it can be weighed down with rocks if needed.I put it in my plant-only paludarium and it works perfectly for that. Probably not the best for fish or other animals, at least not without caution, as the sharp edges and possible paint flaking could hurt them. If you get it for fish or other animals, check them to make sure they are small enough or large enough that they wont get stuck in the holes in the ship, which are very small. Check it before to remove sharp edges and wash off potential flaking paint. Other than that, it's great. For my purposes, it's perfect, but you should know these things if you want to put it with any animals.

I got the jewelry box...embarrassed to say but it took months of me moving it around, loading it down with gravel to get it to open and close automatically, in fact I had given up on it. I love it.

The media could not be loaded.  In order to get this to work, you must use an air control valve on your pump. Too much air and it just stays open with bubbles. The control valve leaks air until you get the right amount. And you have to position the box just right on the sand. I toned the air way down so it opens every 4 seconds. Tip: Use a small air pump. I use a Whisper rated for 10gal and it's on a 110 tank. Even then, I need the control valve to let air out because it would be too much air otherwise, so it is just a little bit going into the treasure box. Really cute and fun. The kids love watching it open and close.

My 8 yr old son picked out all the decor for the tank and no aquarium would be complete without a treasure chest right?!Ordered the mini chest which was the perfect size for the 10g Fluval tank. I read reviews prior to ordering and I’m so glad I did because there were some great tips. Firstly, you really need the most basic (low pressure, controller dial) water pump to make this specific item work effectively. The one I bought cost $12, has a simple turn dial to adjust air flow pressure (I included a pic of the air pump - which I could easily adjust so the chest lid could open AND close at various speeds. I thought approx every 10 sec. worked best), and bonus it’s absolutely 100% silent too. Secondly, as suggested in other reviews, angling the chest to one side works well with getting the chest lid to open and close in a rhythm timed relay with the air pump. Overall, great success for a first attempt. 🙌My son is excited to add fish now!

The media could not be loaded.  Ok yes it's small and light. It does work if you're gentle with it. Look through the reviews there's one that explains all of the bits and pieces that you need to do to make this work nicely. It also comes with a black plastic thing that helps hold it down you just need some gravel to weigh it down a bit and it'll stay down just fine.

Very light weight. Need to put gravel on it to keep it in the bottom of the aquarium. Cheaply made. You get what you pay for.
