So many errors
This book is riddled with problems. I’ve encountered multiple errors in which a word is either missing letters or an incorrect letter is used. There were two spelling errors within the first 2 pages of the first chapter. Some pages look like they started running out of ink so the text appears grey rather than black. It honestly seems like they took the textbook and tried to reproduce it without checking for errors

Easy reading on a complex topic
I bought this book as a required text for a graduate class. I found this text to be highly useful across classes. It provides information and facts about disorders and diagnosis, as well as the biological mechanisms of the disorder and/or treatments. Then, in a later matching chapter, pharmacological options are discussed in detail, including risks and benefits. My only complaint is that the book tends to provide a large amount of info on a particular medication option or two, while seriously lacking detail on others. If you choose to study one of the less detailed options, the book serves as a good starting point but further research will probably be needed for more detailed or specific info. On a good note, there are OTC and herbal options discussed as appropriate, plus an entire chapter dedicated to this area. This is generally a well-written book that is easy to understand with having minimal background in biology. If you need a resource for understanding mental health medications, this is a good one that is not too hard to digest.
