SupcoBPV31 Bullet Piercing Tap Valve 1/4 In, 5/16 In, 3/8 In. Od

I've used these SUPCO bullet valves for years for accessing process tubes and suction lines on small refrigerators and dehumidifiers for repairs. They come in a couple of different sizes and I always try and keep a few of them on hand, but this part #31, which covers 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" O.D. tubing is the most common one I use. Sometimes I will just leave them in place on old equipment. Other times I will remove them after recovering refrigerant and braze in a permanent Schrader valve so there is less chance of a leak developing at the valve over time. These are definitely a very handy item to have in truck your stock.

Bought this to recharge a chest freezer that was sealed and wouldn’t get cold. It brought my chest freezer back to life with a shot of car refrigeration. Make sure you’re charging low side and watch a YouTube video to learn how it works. But this has been a life saver especially now that it’s impossible to get a chest freezer with covid.

Tapped into low side line and added R134A freon which is what refrigerator called for. Freezer was not freezing but refrigerator was cold. The added freon fixed the freezer and refrigerator worked alot better.

I used this on a upright freezer a couple of years ago and is still holding up. I am purchasing another one for my roof top AC.

Had no problem installing this piece. It does have a sealing surface on it and I noticed no leaks after install and servicing. It says not for r410a Freon. I used it as I could not find any reason not to. It took the charge and the dehumidifier is still running.
