The older model used a soft plastic as a hinge, which cracked over repeated use. This updated version has a real hinge. However, the backstop is a bit less versatile as it really has only a 45 and 60 degree angle and the stop folds if you lift the case. The older one had a friction backstop that stayed in place. Nevertheless, an excellent and sturdy cover/keyboard with many days of battery life. Very good value.

Over the years I have had several different cases for my iPads but the Zagg keyboards have always had me returning to Zagg.I travel so the rugged has been my go to for the last two years. Now I wanted a thinner one but still a keyboard that I enjoyed typing on .I order two through Amazon and found that you can’t get a refurb or open box and have it work. I did not want to spend the bucks for the Messenger but after try unsuccessfully two times with the other Zagg models I broke down and ordered brand new Messenger for my iPad Air.Just what I wanted. Much less case so less protection then the Rugged but the keyboard is just as good as my old Rugged. Really really happ with this case. I have only had it for a week now. I can see how there were concerns about the hinge but right now I do not find it any problem at all. I wanted the option to be able to pull the screen off the keyboard and this gives me that option more easily then the Rugged.I will let you know if I find out there is a problem but right now could not be happier.

The keyboard works for a month and a half, and now its imposible to work with. Its has a mind of its own. Keeps pressing O key and arrows keys and its not working any more. I understand that this is a low price Item, but it must last longer, this is no Ali Express, its Amazon Store.I pass the time to ask for a refund or return the item, so now I just lost that money.

My school recently gave us iPads but in our second week let us know that they wanted us to write a paper, and I know I can type pretty quickly on my phone but with the size of the iPad I knew it was going to slow my speed down. So I hopped on Amazon and found this bad boy! Works amazing, battery seems to last for years (on a serious note I only have to charge it every two-three weeks) and there’s no lag which is amazing. Makes me feel and look professional with its sleek look.

The ZAGG Messenger Folio Case is a good purchase with negatives and positives exactly as expected. The keyboard works well, typing is pretty easy which allows me to use the iPad more as a work tool. The stand holds the screen/pad upright except when not on a hard surface. So, working from your lap is more problematic. The case protects the iPad well but does make it a lot bulkier, but it is to be expected. The bigger downside, which reduced the rating to four stars, is the absence of a mouse-pad on the keyboard. It can be awkward to alternate between the keyboard and the iPad when one is needed. Either way, it was a great purchase for the price.

I bought this case for my iPad. On the bright side, it offers great protection, as there's a bit of space between the pad and the keyboard when the case closes. That in itself is a good design. However, just over three weeks after my purchase, the keyboard's keys started sticking, mainly the "N", "T", and "E" keys. I type documents on my iPad, so that is a major inconvenience. Points for durability, minus points for keyboard longevity.

I didn’t understand what 9.7 or 10.5 meantI measured across the iPad and it was 9 and 7/8 inches so I thought that’s what the 9.7 meantWhen it arrived, my iPad would not fit into it so I had to send it back and I’m gonna try the 10.5When I looked up iPad GEN three it gave me those two size choices

The case is good and sturdy. I bought it because I needed the keyboard but it never charged, never worked. Is only a case not a keyboard.
