A built-in mass disc offers a good starting point for most designs, and a convenient M5 threaded hole (screw included) allows different types of weights to be added if desired. Cosmetically and mechanically, the passives match the Shielded DVC line of subwoofers, with a poly coated paper cone and medium-roll rubber surround for clean excursion and long life. The possibilities with these passives are endless, from floor standing two-ways to small active/passive subwoofer systems. Specifications: • Fs: 18.6 Hz • Vas: 162.4 liters • Qms: 4.27 • Cms: 0.5 mm/N • Mms: 147.1g • Rms: 4 kg/s • Sd: 480 sq. cm. • Xmax: 13 mm • Dimensions: Overall diameter: 314, Cutout diameter: 272 mm, Depth: 89 mm. Note: Adding mass to the passive radiator will decrease Fs and increase Qms. Tip: As a general rule the passive radiator(s) should be able to move double the volume of air as the active woofer(s)/subwoofer(s) in the system. For example: A passive radiator system for a 12" woofer/subwoofer that has 10mm of X-max would require 2-12" passive radiators with 10mm of X-max. For single passive radiator systems, it is common to use a passive that is larger than the active woofer(s)/subwoofer(s). great
Very good product. If dayton sold a weight kit I would give more stars. You need weight to tune. Most washers I could find didn't add up to enough mass. In all fairness, I must update. I've used 2 more of these and when I installed the in larger volumes I got excellent results. Example : 1-10"subwoofer with this radiator in a 2 cubic foot enclosure, was super deep.

Tore quickly
I bought 4 of these to use 2 each in dual enclosures, paired with a single 15" driver in each enclosure. Without pushing them hard at all, 3 out of 4 of them had the cones tear away from the spiders, almost immediately (less than 30 minutes of use). Basically, the extremely weak glue failed. Instead of telling me that I must've received some defective PRs, the very nice Parts Express tech advised me that the enclosures I was using were too large for these, but if I sent them back, they'd replace them. I'm no expert, so maybe he's right, but that seems pretty weak to me. So, I chose not to send them back, because if they're not going to work for my enclosures, why do I need new ones? Instead, I'm loading the cone/spider joints with super glue, and maybe some other flexible adhesive like silicone. If they fail again, I'll throw them away, consider the $150 I flushed down the toilet a life lesson, and look for other options.

Fixed my old subwoofer
Funny noises coming from my old sub, the venerable Velodyne V-1012-b, a unit that got good reviews in its time, has its own amp, is a sealed design with a 10" driver and a 12" passive radiator. This was a pretty high-end, made in the USA design in its day and people have kept them going for many years now..The radiator was making rude noises and when I removed it, I found it had split open. No problem as it I bought it long ago and the rubber probably just got old.The Dayton Audio SD315-PR 12 is quite inexpensive and its construction is basically a light stamped frame with a stiff, modern-material cone and what seems to be quality, pliable surround that allows it to move fairly easily. After all, what moves a passive radiator is just the sound waves from the other speaker. It has to move reasonably easy or it wouldn't do anything.I had to modify the mounting area in order to properly attach and seal this radiator. You can never expect a universal speaker of any sort to ever just screw right in as most mass-produced speaker systems use proprietary components that are designed to pop in with a minimum of labor. The Dayton has a provision to attach washers as weights in order to increase the inertia of the cone and thus modify the response. I just left it stock and light for the quickest response. In the end, the operation was a success. I tried a variety of music featuring bass and it all worked, and in fact I turned the response to right where I had it originally, so the bass response is very much the same as the original unit. That is a good thing. In any case, the Dayton worked, was very reasonable in cost and would be a good choice as a universal replacement or if you are building your own sub.

Good quality
Very good quality, seems very solid. I replaced a unit that sold for about half the price and lasted five years before the foam rotted and the center fell out. As I have no way of testing my sub as to before and after installation, I can say I can tell the difference now the my sub has been repaired. Plan to order another one soon.

Packed well, arrived on time, works great. Easy install.

This passive radiator does not fit a standard front mounting enclosure on a vintage speaker
Big waste of time. Not only a featherweight piece of junk but it doesn’t fit.

Five Stars
Better quality then the factory passive radiator

Does the trick
Terrific after market replacements that will bring life back into your old blown towers. I know they did the trick for me. Rich, rumbling bass that far outperforms the stock PRs I replaced. Recommended.
