Independently Published Lovesick

Most definitely one of the better authors in the horror/splatterpunk genre.There is certainly enough gore, violence and brutal sex to satisfy the most depraved among us. 😁But there is also a story and there are characters of flesh and blood (well, a lot of blood actually!) Seriously, I found this book to be entertaining and I even sympathized with the main character Mark Murray, despite his sadistic tendencies. There is a good balance between depravity and normal human emotions and I absolutely loved how the book ended. But please don't try this at home. 😄

TW: abuse, torture, rape, kidnappingWell.How can I rate a book that is so horrifyingly disturbing and morbid and… well, disgusting?To say I hated it means it was an awful book. To say I like it makes it seem like I clearly have issues.The book comes with a warning and for good reason. It is full of intense violence, disturbing and sexual scenes. As per the author it can be “considered violent, cruel, disturbing, or unusual. This book is not intended for those easily offended or appalled”The concept itself is love gone horribly, horribly wrong and revenge gone way, way too far. It’s horrifyingly explicit and disturbing and completely chilling.The writing itself goes from somewhat basic to feeling someone just looked up big words in a medical dictionary. It’s not some brilliantly written masterpiece but it definitely keeps you interested. It’s like when you squash a bug and you know it’s gonna be awful and gross but you gotta take a peak and make sure it’s dead.Yeah. It’s like that.Guaranteed to make you cringe, possibly gag, and definitely make you question what kind of person you are for reading this…. I can’t say I recommend this book, but if all of the above appeals to you…. You might want to become Lovesick.

Super interesting book, it had my hooked from the start, i love the idea, ive never heard anything like it, amazes me how someone could even come up with something so clever!

Read and enjoyed this book. Jon Athan books are great and will be purchasing more.

I would say this book was ok not amazing but ok ........I did think though considering the author is only like 28 and already turning out book after book. It will be interesting to see how his work develops this is obviously the start of him developing his craft .But I could see him when he has written more eventually creating a worthwhile work. I found the fact he went out on limb with the none pc story of infecting his cheating girlfriend with hiv from street hustlers exploring ideas that wouldn't be normally covered . It was interesting seeing a young writer taking chances even if the end was a bit shoddy and parts of the character development could have be more indepth. I think this book could have benefited from another one hundred pages of developing the psychological characteristics of the main protagonists making it less hallow and shallow. But all in all will see how this writer develops and in a few years maybe his writing will go from ok to great .
