Kuretake Gansai Tambi Set, 6 Count (Pack of 1), Starry Colors

Kuretake paints are beautiful, and are a fantastic value for the beginner or experienced artist. I just received my fourth set and love all of them! The pan sizes are larger than most all others, and can even accommodate large, mop-style brushes. The paint is smooth and creamy, highly pigmented. Colors are brilliant. I haven’t tried Daniel Smith watercolor paints so can’t compare, however I see no reason to consider any other brand than Kuretake! Definitely an excellent choice!

I am not usually a fan of gold but this paint is beautiful. I can tell the difference between the different shades of gold and I used the white pearl color over some teal and it added a beautiful shimmer.

These are lovely paints! I love the large pans. The colors are smooth and creamy. Very pigmented. You can add water to make them lighter and more transparent. The lid of the box allows for swatches of the colors. Good assortment and seem easy to mix so far.

I own many other brands of professional watercolour paints, but Kuretake Gansai Tambi is now my new favourite. I love the larger pans, the smooth creamy texture of the paint, the range of unique colours, and the fact that the paint rinses off the brush quickly, and with ease. Colour swatches in photo done on Arches 140 lb cold press watercolour paper. I purchased "Set II - Art Nouveau" immediately after swatching this set, and have posted a review, and colour swatches on that page.

These are beautiful on black paper. They don't show up on white unless you move paper around. They might work on top of other colors.
