thin, plastic shatters (is NOT "ABS"!) - soft bar bends with normal use
I thought this was a decent product until the ONE TIME I missed the bar and hit the bucket with the portafilter... and the bucket shattered. There is no way in hell this product is made from ABS. ABS is, in fact, shatterproof, because ABS is a soft material. I am an engineer who has been specifying and selecting resins for consumer products for a lifetime career, and ABS doesn't behave the way this material behaves. Two possibilities:1) either it was never ABS at all and the manufacturer knows it and doesn't care,-or-2) the manufacturer asked their Chinese factory to use ABS, and the Chinese factory doesn't know how to make real ABS.Plus the bar bends just from normal use. You get what you pay for, and this was < $20. Next time I'll know better than to believe in hype from no-name, non-existent "companies" like this.

Please read!!
The ONLY reason why I docked this a star was ONLY because it was too small for what I needed. I bought this for use in my cafe since it was the biggest one I’ve found that also ticks all of the boxes for what I wanted:Black, simple, compact, with a rubber bar for shock and noise resistance, easily cleaned, etc. This knock box was made for home use and if this is what you need it for, then I completely recommend it. If you are looking to use this for compercial use, then sadly you’ll need to look elsewhere and sadly pay the heftier prices for the larger ones on EBay and such. The box itself isn’t large capacity and is made to knock with smaller espresso machine heads. This means for me that I would need to have a good aim when knocking and also empty it quite often since we use a lot of espresso!Again, I would highly recommend this for a home use, not a compercial user!

Better than bodacious!
Simple and inexpensive thing, but I think it’s well-designed for its purpose in life. For example, the rubber whacking bar (for which baristas doubtless have a name) is sized perfectly to squeeze into the slots in the bucket and stick there while you whack the whacking bar with the thing the brown juice comes out of, and later, when you're ready to deal with a full bucket of the used brown stuff, the whacking bar comes right out for cleaning. The bottom has a little extra rubber pad attached to it, too, so it tends to stay put during all the whacking of brown juice paraphernalia that you'll be doing into this.Would definitely buy one if these again if someone broke into my house to steal it.

Happy with my purchase
I bought a Breville about a month ago with no experience of having a non-pod machine. While watching YouTube videos, I saw people with this thing called a knock box. It seems like a silly product! But when your machine is across the kitchen from a pull out trash can, you’re bound to drop espresso on the floor. So I decided to buy this and I’m really pleased. Plus, I’m able to easily save my espresso grounds for the garden. The bar on it is rubber coated so it absorbs the “Knock” and my filter hasn’t popped out. I don’t have experience with any other knock boxes but I’m happy I purchased this one, no complaints.Completely unrelated: sometimes I see people online who say “I don’t trust reviewers who leave more than one review a day.” To those people: some of us buy A LOT of stuff on amazon and go to leave a review and then notice all the other things to review and just go on a roll and review multiple ones!

Works great.
Solid, sturdy, easy to clean, good smaller size, and is stable because of the rubber on bottom. To use, simply give a light tap and the puck drops out. I hold it about 1” above the bar. I had to laugh at the reviews for other similar size knockboxes and people claim their grounds “spray” or “splatter” all over their countertops. If your grounds do not come out as a solid puck, don’t blame the knockbox.
