If your Kimber model name stamped on the right side of the slide contains the word "Ultra" the tool fits. The 2012, 2015 and 2019 versions will align the disassembly notch perfectly and perform identical regardless of the caliber. Completely self aligning, simple to insert and remove. The 2015 and 2019 version have a wire handle feature that can be removed and replaced as desired. (The tool is inserted using the wire handle without the need to grasp the tool near the front of the pistol. For folks with large fingers or difficulty working in tight places this is a great aid.) Storage tube has bright red anti-roll square caps. Resists rolling off bench and easy to spot. The tool will jump into place while being inserted making this a very simple tool to insert. The unique open tail design bypasses the inner spring plug and positions the outer spring plug directly aligning the disassembly notch. Unlike a barrel designed tool, the inner spring plug is not fully compressed allowing some access to the inner spring for flushing and oiling. Once the rod assembly is out of the firearm, the tool is easily removed using our SC-100 spring compressor or using the slide as a spring compressor.

You need this tool!
If you have the Kimber Ultra, you need this tool. Much better than the dopey "paperclip-like" wire supplied by the manufacturer for takedown. Excellent fit, excellent value. Four thumbs up! Why didn't Kimber supply something like this when they sold the pistol? Who knows...perhaps they had a paperclip surplus, perhaps they assume you will need to field strip your pistol while locked in an office supply cabinet, perhaps they think you own an old-style Macintosh and you need the paperclip for the emergency restart anyway. You should buy this instead!

Fantastic. Should come in the box from Kimber.
Arrived in 2 days even without Prime. Nice service from this seller.Lock Kimber Ultra open. Slide this under guide rod then rotate 180 deg. Hold slide tightly, carefully release and carefully allow the slide to close. It stops perfectly at the take down notch. Perfectly. The retaining pin pulls out and the slide comes off.I was able to take apart my Ultra with a tool the Kimber factory should have put in the box. This is so far above and beyond using the paperclip Kimber gives you.I'd recommend this to any Ultra owner.

Helps keep your Kimber scratch free
Works exactly as advertised. Good construction and easy to use. Using this is particularly helpful for Kimber pistols with an aluminum frame. These frames have a coating that is prone to chipping and wear. This tool aligns the slide stop for easy removal and assembly in a manner that greatly reduces the chances for chipping or scrapes to the paint.

Great Alternative to Manufacturer Provided Paper-Clip
30 minutes after purchasing a Kimber Ultra I learned of the "paper-clip" take-down tool provided by the manufacturer. After I got over the shock and laughter caused by trying to use the paper-clip I figured someone must have a better answer/tool for take-down. It didn't take long to find this tool. Amazon estimated shipping would take two weeks but it arrived after two days. It works as advertised and is a much better solution to the paper-clip provided by Kimber. Yes, it is a bit expensive but these aren't mass produced in China (100% Texas Manufactured) and making these in your garage with a CNC machine isn't cheap.

Pay a little more for a metal version
I had struggled to perform the takedown on my Ultra Carry to the point that I only took the pistol down for cleaning every other trip to the range. But this device made takedown so simple that I now don't think twice about a full cleaning. As others said, Kimber should include something like this in the box. My only regret is not buying a metal version so it would last longer.

Makes Kimber Ultra 1911s easy to disassemble and reassemble
This is an amazing tool. I just ordered a second for my range bag! It slides on the guide rod with no effort, is held magnetically, and is removed when you're you've reassembled effortlessly. If you have an Ultra, it'll be the best money you ever spent!

I like having the Takedown Tool magnetized
I bought both the Guide Rod Spring Compressor and the TakedownTool for the 1911 Kimber Ultra pistol at the same time. I like having the Takedown Tool magnetized, as this keeps it from falling away from the guide rod. Have not yet used the Spring Compressor, but it looks like it will work as advertised. I wish Kimber would supply a tool similar to the Takedown Tool, as it makes disassembly much easier than using the supplied wire device (which I hated).

A must have
This thing is so awesome, Kimber should throw away their paperclips and include one of these with every gun sold. Before you buy it. Go to 1911ultratool.com and watch the FAQ video. Some models fit multiple guns. It might keep you from buying two seperate ones when you can get one that works on both your guns
