I bought this for use in a manufacturing facility, mainly for folks who speak Spanish and Portuguese. After using it for a week, we are very pleased with the device. It translates well to and from English, allowing us to communicate better with our employees. Be aware that an internet connection is required, either through a cell network or WiFi. We use ours on WiFi, as the signal is better in our location. If you're traveling abroad to a rural area, it won't work without internet.

Simple to use. Put the button and speak and the translation is basically instant. I have used it saying phrases I know in Spanish, English,and Japanese and it hasn’t gotten anything wrong yet. Took it to Japan and it worked great on the free wifi it came with.

I am SO DISAPPOINTED. I purchased two (2) of these translators in August 21 in preparation for a military move overseas. I purchased Pocket Talk because it offered Indian languages other translators did not. Covid delayed my move to Jan 22. So, I was not able to try to use the Pocket Talks in the intended foreign environment until well past the return date; but, based on other reviews, I wasn't worried - shame on me for being so foolish. Once I tried using the Pocket Talk overseas with foreigners in real world situations, I was BADLY LET DOWN. More often than not, the device does not recognize the English I'm speaking, so I get either gibberish or no translation in return. (English is my first language by the way). Co-workers, my husband, waiters, passing strangers, any number of others have tried to use the device and we all get the same useless and unsatisfactory response from the device. To make matters worse, the battery has such a short life that by the time you've gotten to where you're going it's nearly out of juice. Sadly, Pocket Talk is not big enough to use as a door stop, so it is truly a complete and utterly useless waste of money. Save your sanity and your pocketbook and Google Translate on your Smart phone. It's free and it works 1,000 x better than these horrid little Pocket Talk devices.

The folks at Pocketalk have mastered how to build a device. First, it works amazingly well. Second, it is easy to setup. You take it out of the package and turn it on. Here is where they excel - it does not ask for any personal information - seriously! It does give you to the option to connect to your wifi (which I did) but it is not required. You can use this without ever giving them your name, email, phone number, etc. That is almost unheard of in the world today. I am really REALLY impressed by this. The device functions flawlessly. It works really fast and is really accurate. This is not only an Amazing Device for travel without worrying about the language, but it works extremely well for learning and practicing a new language. Overall, I really cannot say enough about how pleased I am with this device.

It's small, easy to use, but it doesn't always translate well. I will say something in the language I'm learning and about ~75% of time it gets it correct. When I speak the exact phrase in my native language, the translation appears as I was speaking it, even though it did not recognize my accent...which is concerning when I know I'm saying a phrase correctly. The photo translation feature is nice and appears to work well. I keep changing the time to my local time zone & it changes on it's own to an incorrect time zone. There is an annoying instruction pop-up that I can't seem to disable. The lanyard did not thread easily, either. Overall, it's a nice tool but a bit over-priced.

Used on over sea trip in multiple countries with different languages and worked quite well.

I had high hopes for this little device, as my non-English speaking relative was coming to visit for three weeks. The best I can say is that it was better than nothing. Translations were reasonable only about 30-40% of the time. The rest of them ranged from difficult to understand to utterly nonsensical. In order for any possibility of a true translation, I discovered you have to speak abnormally slow, in very short sentences, and with impeccable enunciation. Very disappointed.

Translation works best from English to another language. Tried Portuguese, Armenian, Polish and US Spanish with native speakers from Armenian to English it never translated correctly. Does not work at all when tethered to phone it keeps telling you to speak into microphone. Will probably be returning it seeing it requires Wi-Fi and doesn’t work with phone Wi-Fi. Global sim does not provide service still needs an internet connection. A bit disappointed. It’s connected to my phone service and does not work when connected. Looking for another device.
