I'm still trying to figure out what it means "single version" of aome of theses songs, because my single versions were much shorter and are not available on any CD in the world. You can find these single versions on any and all Donna Summer CD collections. So THAT marketing technique failed for me. The only thing different on here was the Edit version of last years hit You're So Beautiful which was otherwise available in a very long 11 minute version. While there is NO Donna Summer collection that actually has all of her single versions included, this one has 2 volumes of hits in chronlogical order. The first disc includes her most popular 70's classics, excluding Winter Melody, Summer Fever, I Remember Yesterday, Theme From The Deep, Once Upon A Time, Rumour Has It, With Your Love (B-side for Last Dance), Walk Away, Our Love, On My Honour and My Baby Understands. The second disc spans from 1980-2004. The Wanderer was her first recording for the Geffen label and change in musical direction. Her recordings were sparadicallly successfull partially because of acusations that she was anti-gay and her new found Christianity. Donna always loved her gay following and STILL does. Other highlights from the 80's on missing here are Who Do You Think You're Foolin', Cold Love, Romeo (from Flashdance), The Woman In Me, Sometimes Like Butterflies (B-side Love Is In Control), Love Has a Mind Of It's Own, Face The Music (B-side There Goes My Baby), Only The Fool Survive, Tearin' Down The Walls (B-side Dinner With Gershwin), Breakaway and Ordinary Miracle. did I also forget tomention Love Is A Healer And The Power Of One? OK I think I made my point, ie you can't fool a DS fan with repacked stuff when there is so much unavailable!At least shorten the single versions by using the short original 45 versions so you can put the little hits too! I'll buy it!

There are three reasons to get this:Firstly, the sound is remastered. It's like listening to a brand new release. The audio is incredible!Secondly and especially a lot of the songs on disc 1 are the longer versions with added instruments, vocals bits. Listen to Love To Love You Baby and MacArthur Park. These versions are definitely better than the shorter edits on Endless Summer - and they demonstrate why Summer ruled the 70s charts. Although Last Dance is the longer version, it's not my favourite Thank God It's Friday 8 minutes + version where Summer stops in the middle of the disco part to sing the ballad bit and then it escalates again.Summer's signature style is evident. A lot of songs start off slow and then jump starts to disco. Donna is also one of the pioneers of electronic dance music. Just listen to I Feel Love and Sunset People.Thirdly, Disc Two has a fair representation of her 80s work till 2005. I really love the new wave treatment of There Goes My Baby, her cover of Andrea Bocelli's and Sarah Brightman's Time To Say Goodbye, titled here as I Will Go With You and the SAW produced numbers. The last song You're So Beautiful closes on a hi energy note.A 2 Disc will ultimately have lots of omissions. Record companies will also artfully leave a few tracks that are unique to each greatest hits release. Still, Donna Summer Gold is a pretty good package with lots of songs that brings back memories. I'm sure sales must have been good as the retail price has gone up.RIP Donna, miss you much!

If you grew up listening to Donna Summer like I did, this album is a treat! Donna Summer Gold features all her greatest hits - the good and the not so good. I almost went with a different compilation , but this one has more of what I like. It features a total of 34 songs on two discs. At under 15.00, the price is right! Donna's voice remained powerful throughout her career. She was never outdone by the pulsating beats and rhythms of disco . Nor was she overpowered by the synthesizing eighties pop. All hail the queen and may she RIP!

Very good selection of songs very good nice clean sounds good treble mid-range and bass Donna Summers voice sounds exceptionally vantastic. I purchase this used in very good condition for an excellent discounted price very happy with this purchase Donna Summer is the best in my opinion I wish they will put more concerts on DVD then why even more Encore 1999 sure they would sell Donna is number oneWe know she has many concerts from about 19 76 to 2010 why are they not on Amazon I thought Amazon had everything Amazon please work on getting many more Donna Summer DVDs thank you

......and it's coming on the heels of the recent 'Journey' collection.While I'd LOVE to see some new product from Donna, I'm always excited when a FANTASTIC hits collection is released. This is probably the best and most comprehensive of the bunch. While it seems as if they were going for the most complete collection of single releases, there are some questionable omissions (Winter Melody, Rumour Has It, Walk Away, Cold Love, Who Do You Think You're Foolin' & The Woman In Me).Also, I would've preferred the "single versions" of 'MacArthur Park' and 'Hot Stuff' instead of the "promotional single/extended versions"My only other gripe would be that the song credits mis-list the singles from the album 'Another Place And Time' as from 'This Time I Know It's For Real' (which is the title of the first single....NOT the album).Other than those minor complaints, this is a top-notch effort worthy of a place in any great CD collection

I had Bad Girls, and Dim all the lights on 45's, I was in junior high, an loved dancing in my room to Donna Summer! Her voice was incredible! Not technically engineered ( like they do with female artists now)..I always loved the duet with Barbara Strisand "No more Tears", and was happy to see this included. Sunset people was also a favorite, an wished that would've had more air play!! The world won't be the same without many of the great artists of the 70's, an 80's. God bless Donna Summer, we love you!!!

２０台前半の頃よく聴きました。そう言えば最近活動してないのかな？って思ってた矢先の訃報でした。「もうこのひとの歌はこのひとではなくてはならない」とでも云いましょうか。上手い下手とかではなく、持ち歌を歌いきるＤＯＮＮＡ姉さんにただただ感服！！同時にＷＨＩＴＮＥＹ姉さんのアルバムを購入しましたが、完璧すぎて突き入る隙がありません。彼女にするなら、より温かみのあるＤＯＮＮＡ姉さんでしょうか！？今のＲ＆Ｂを聴いてる若いひと達にも是非聴いてほしいです。できればＤＯＮＮＡ→ＷＨＩＴＮＥＹで聴いてほしいな。しかし同時に旅立ってしまうなんて…。残念でなりません。

デビューからの DONNA の流れが一番わかりやすいアルバムだと思います。カサブランカから移籍後の曲調が変わっているのも面白いです。
