HTH52023 Super Shock Treatment Swimming Pool Chlorine Cleaner, 1 lb (Pack of 6)

This is a great product, easy to use, and lasts a long time. We have a 42” deep above ground and just followed a YouTube video I found. Packaging was excellent and comes with 6, 1 lb bags inside a larger bag. We opened the 1 lb bag and while using a glove pour coin dollar size amounts in the palm of my hand toss into the pool, do this 10 times while walking around the pool. Use your skimmer to give it a final mix.We follow with the arm and hammer clear blue tablet in the pump basket, and 1 chlorinating puck in the puck float. We do the shock and clear blue tablet together each time, and the chlorine puck as needed.The first time around our levels were good after shocking twice bc the chlorine levels were not high enough. If you do not want to add shock to increase chlorine, you can buy other products, or just straight bleach.Ive seen negative reviews on this product due to it not breaking up algae.... I did research on this and this product will not break up algae forming on your pool. If you get algae starting to grow at the bottom you will need to scrub first, or get creative and glide your feet along the bottom and sides to break this up. Then you can shock the algae. Should see results in as little as 24 hours! Make sure you test your water and adjust as needed. Test strips are easy to use.Hope this helps. If you did find this helpful please hit helpful below. I bought this Super Shock 6 pack here on Amazon on 4/21/21 for $20.00 I see its now $50.00 here. I checked on the HTH website today and this Super Shock is no longer to be found on their website! Just Shock, Shock Advanced and Shock Ultra. I then called them and they confirmed Super Shock has been discontinued and if its still sold anywhere, its OLD STOCK and shock by nature has a short shelf life. Anyways, a few days ago I found water bugs in my in ground pool clinging to the upper plaster walls which indicated some algae on the walls. Though the water is clear and no green or black anywhere. So I opened my Super Shock and was shocked myself when the paper holding the stuff of each bag had disintegrated. I threw 3 broken bags of the stuff in the pool at night with the pool cover open and pump running. Next morning I tested and found the chlorine level had risen from 3 to just 7.5. Didn't seem right for 3 bags worth. Going to try the new and fresh Shock Advanced here for $33.00 for a six pack.
