The botanical extract blend gives decent slip during application, making detangling manageable even on second day hair. The surfactant system is gentle enough that I can wash every other day without scalp dryness, though it takes slightly longer to work into a lather compared to conventional shampoos. Water hardness matters here; in soft water areas it performs beautifully, but I've noticed reduced efficacy when traveling to regions with high mineral content. The formula leans heavily toward moisture retention, which is excellent for dry, damaged hair but can be too heavy if you have fine or low porosity strands. My medium porosity hair drinks it up, but I've had to clarify monthly with a chelating shampoo to prevent buildup. The frizz calming claims are legitimate for about 48 hours post wash with proper styling products. Contains hydrolyzed soy protein. If you're protein sensitive or already using protein heavy treatments, you might experience stiffness or brittle texture. I alternate this with a protein free cleanser to maintain balance. At 24oz, the price per ounce beats most salon brands with comparable ingredient quality. I get roughly 8 weeks of use washing 3x weekly, so the cost efficiency is there. Works very well for normal to high porosity, textured hair needing moisture without silicone dependency. Not ideal for fine hair, protein sensitive individuals, or those wanting volumizing effects. The botanical scent is pleasant but polarizing.
