The best Introduction to ACT available
If you have the first edition - give it to a charity shop, and buy this 2nd edition. Improved beyond measure, and easily the best of the "Made Simple" series. Explains ACT exactly as is described in the title....there is no book I could recommend more as a starting point to this most progressive so-called 3rd wave CBT model.

Brilliant for laymen as well as therapists.
This is brilliant. I think I have read at least 50% of books in this genre and there are many that are very good, but this one uses language that is clear, no beating about the bush. Coming from a lot of Buddhist books and practices the idea of a contextual self that has always been there grated a bit on me, but Russ Harris says enough words to carry it through as 'well it helps, it's workable' but the rest is so helpful that is a minor quibble. This is a book full of wisdom.

Insightful and practical
This book gives a wonderful outline of ACT and lots of brilliant example of tools to use. I found that the stricter of the book makes it difficult to find what I need when I’m looking for it. It’s been written more like a book to work your way through step by step - I can see the logic in terms of giving a positive understanding of the application of ACT but to dip into for exercises I’ve added my own tabs so I can find them.

GREAT
Effective book giving guidance on how to change thoughts and behaviours to overcome a number of conditions such as depression and anxiety. Uses Acceptance and Commitment Theory, based on mindfulness. Also has a range of good exercises to try out. Easy to read and follow. I am pleased with my purchase and would buy again.
