I use my WorkSharp for the initial sharpening on edge tools I buy and restore. Once I have the back flattened and the bevel shaped the way I want it I go through all the fine grits to get a uniform and consistent polish on the blade with a mirror finish. This is the fastest, most consistent way I've found for getting that initial sharpening that establishes the edge profile so I can touch up and rehone the edge on my waterstones quickly and get back to work. I built a mobile sharpening station for my small shop and my WorkSharp is permanently mounted on it with all the disks and accessories accessible in a drawer, along with my angle grinder and a space for my waterstones. After several years of use and lots of restored plane irons and chisels I finally need to replace the fine grits on my WorkSharp disks. I was pleasantly surprised at how long the original set of disks lasted. I use the eraser block that came with the WorkSharp to keep the disks clean everytime I use one of the disks so I think that has definitely helped to make them last so long.
