Pentel Sharp Mechanical Pencils - P205A, P207C, P209G (3)

Bought these after cleaning out my father’s home office after his recent passing. I came upon his 1976 and 1984 models and was reminded of how perfect these were for writing. I've used a variety of different automatic pencil models over the years and grew so frustrated with snapping leads, but when I recovered these in dad's desk I immediately remembered the fit and quality. I gathered all of his as mementoes, along with his ample lead supplies. Bought this 3-model pack because I like using different width for different applications. 0.5mm is great for making notes in books. 0.7mm is for everyday writing on paper pads. And 0.9mm is great for making graphs and diagrams, or annotating print-outs. Pentel is a Japanese company, and like most Japanese products - quality, fit, finish is simple and superior. Lead widths are color coded with pencil matching the cap on the pencil lead container. Black - 0.5mm, Blue - 0.7mm, Yellow - 0.9mm.

I love the pencils, and the pencils themselves deserve 5 stars. However I am very particular about the lead width, and the item description is misleading. I write all day, and 0.7 is the most comfortable. The item description says “line size 0.7 mm” which would lead you to believe that all three are 0.7 mm. There is actually a 0.5, a 0.7, and a 0.9 mm. Had the description been less misleading, I wouldn’t have ordered this 3 pack as two of these will never be used.

The pencils come with a bar code sticker attached to each barrel. I peeled one off of the blue pencil, but it left an impossible-to-remove sticker residue. Turned the whole pencil sticky.The point of getting these pencils (and not the generic kind you can get in bulk at OfficeMax that work just as well) is that they look nice. Why would anyone want them with a bar code stuck on the side?

I purched the same model mechanical pencil in .07 over 30 years ago and still have it.I purchased this set to obtain the other point sizes and expected the same satisfaction.I was disappointed with the "feel" and "heft" of these pencils. They are not as heavy or sturdy feeling as the older one. The surfaces are slippery, even at the scoring on the grip.The balance of this set is different from the older version - they don't set in my hand as comfortably. I wonder whether manufacturing specs have changed to reduce materials/plastic amounta per unit. Understandable to save resources and the environment, but a change in the feel of the product.Too bad - I will probably put these in my classroom "treasure box" for my students.

Long time favorites... I gave this set to my 12 year old granddaughter who really appreciated the gift. Her father let her know how nice these are so she realized it was a quality gift. I put them in a gift box (from a bracelet my wife had) because the plastic bag didn't look too pretty. If she continues to draw as she gets older I may give her a set of Graphgear 1000 pencils.

...and will continue to do so. Desk, job site, ruck.....never had one fail. 3 lead sizes in this pack make ordering simple. Best I've found for the price.

These pencils are my favorite because they feel right and are durable. I’m an electrician and like that they have a focused lead that helps me make accurate marks & mark up detailed prints without switching tools.The shop that I purchased them from did a great job getting them to me. I appreciate that they wrapped my pencils securely & shipped them in eco-friendly packing.

I have trouble holding thin writing utensils but these are by far the best, most durable mechancial pencils I've ever used. I still have mine from my drafting class in college that I took over 35 years ago! I finally treated myself to a new set and I just love them!
