Steel of a Deal
I was looking for a Timber-jack that was strong and inexpensive. Well the "Timber Tuff TMB-45" is just that. Through Amazon.com I got free delivery and no sales tax, so my only comparison was for the price. Well this jack is 100% all steel, and the welds are very heavy and strong. It claims that it can handle trees up to 12" in diameter, so I had to test it to the max. I went into the woods and looked for 50' (or longer) trees that were a full 12" and already down and was able in every case (this included pine, oak, and hickory trees) to grab and lift the tree off the ground even allowing for the "foot" to mash down into the leaf-filled ground. It did everything and actually more than I expected for $32. I had looked at several more expensive models, you know, the ones with "fiberglass" or "real oak or ash" handles (costing at least 2x) and then came across this all steel jack - why would I want to buy a fancy (and weaker) product for more money. It works great, I can only imagine that those other manufaacturers stay in business because people simply have not seen this product. I would very definitely recommend it to anyone.

Timberjack
This is a tough timberjack great for home use. With this aid I cut split and stacked a cord and a half of hard wood in seven hours from the trees to the stacked fire wood. If there is one issue I could address with this tool it is to reshape he claw, add a second bend giving this tool greater reach. Place this bend half way between the attachment point of the claw and the first bend. This would not increase the cost of manufacturing significantly and it would increase this tools bite exponentially. Well, today the handle bent not significantly but enough to make me cautious from now on. Sorry to have to report this seems steel is soft may have to fill handle with concrete.
