A lot of assumption that you know and understand everything in this book
So I'm 33 and retaking my GCSE's some 15+ years after leaving school. I wanted to get a little studying in ahead of starting the course in February. I'm disappointed. The explanations are very vague and require you already have the knowledge and understanding. If I had the knowledge and understanding already; I wouldn't have needed to buy this book. Expect to be doing a lot of YouTubing and Googleing also.

Very clear and easy to understand.
I'm revisiting many of my qualifications in my old age to keep my brain awake. I completed o'levels way back in the dark ages and everything seems to have changed. I've tried many different books in the library but this one was suggested to me by a colleague. It's clear, explicit enough for you to follow the concepts, but not too much that you get lost and confused. It arrived within a couple of days in perfect condition. I would recommend this book to anybody sitting the higher level mathematics GCSE within this examination board. Its the best I've come across.

Useful Part of your collection but not a perfect Book
Reaaly, this book is ok for Edexcel Maths students but....While there is useful material inside it but I don't really feel it has been revised to completely reflect the changes for the new maths syllabus - these are major and are not just restricted to a new grading system - there is lots of new material and I like many maths teachers are confused as to what the eventual exam is going to look like.Edexcel has released the new syllabus and two sets of sample exam materials (one was considered too hard and was replaced with the latest one - check this on the Edexcel Website. So bearing in mind that we are all involved in something of a mystery tour with this new syllabus - its tough to get the right book. There is going to be a guide that can help us along this path but I don't think this is it - I have gone back to using the David Rayner - 'Higher Student Book - 6th Edition'. Although that book looks a lot less friendly, it has loads more questions and answers pitched at all levels for the aspiring maths student. And it is practice that makes perfect.

Great book to help your studies!!
The amount of times my daughter used this because her teacher is not always good at explaining things!! Higher tier maths is hard enough but with this book it will make your job easier. Simple, clear and concise explanations and the topics are really easy to find. Also I like how the layout is not a formal one, it uses a very casual tone throughout which is good for younger people.Would highly recommend.

CGP at its best
Having taught in the secondary sector, all CGP books are well detailed, clearly illustrated and syllabus true. These were purchased by my long-retired husband simply to work through for interest and enjoyment as an alternative to crosswords!Thank goodness a good book such as the Maths guide can provide this for this purpose as well as for the support of first exposure and revision with younger students.
