GDN Garage Door Winding Bars Pair (Hex)

These are very similar to the bars I had as a professional garagedoor repairman for eleven years. Issued to me my first week and lasted my entire career. I had lost one after I left the industry and still occasionally need to use them so I've been using a fourteen inch round bar in its place, not cool. So I bought these spotless new ones. Service Spring is the top shelf stuff. Hex bars give a little extra grip. Both ends are sized for common residential spring hubs and are slightly rounded to make it easier to use. My original set wasn't double ended or rounded, I had to do that myself so this is a bonus. This set actually looks better than the one in the ad pic, spotless, zero blemishes, virgin bars. Sexy and are coated in a light machine oil to keep them pretty. I'd recommend these to anyone needing a set or professional grade bars.If you are buying these to do it yourself PLEASE research, watch videos, read instructions, ask for advice and BE SO CAREFUL. Ive seen and experienced the damage and injuries this repair can cause and you DO NOT want to be involved in that. These can easily and instantly break bones and can disfigure you faster than thought. Ask me how I know. This is a very dangerous thing. The springs are incredibly strong and will hurt you and damage property faster than you can react, dont think you're faster or can catch it if one slips... you definitely can't. If you have two springs get them both and for the love of all thats beautiful unwind the unbroken one SLOWLY. You wouldn't believe the horrors a torsion spring can cause to a limb or a face. Think "amputation was the only option to save the rest". Ive seen it, Ive got scars. Be careful. If you can afford a professional just suck it up and pay them.Nice bars.

The gear on top of my garage door opener motor snapped off due to the tension on the springs wearing down over time, I ordered a gear kit and replaced them myself and kept the unit out of service until your winding bars arrived which I had ordered a day or two after the gear kit. These bars we're perfect for the job one end is 1/2 in size and the other end is 7/16 size on each bar. They are very strong and sturdy and was a breeze to use. I had heard so many bad stories about people getting injured adjusting their springs that I almost called out a professional again, however using your winding bars and the way they fit is a confidence booster for any one. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.......

These were perfect to use while adding tension to my gargage door. Clearly a dangerous job if not planning ahead and being very carefule. Highly suggest watching MANY youtube videos and practice dry runs of each step you need to take. Regarding these, I loved the hex shape, gave me confidence in grip and staying put when under pressure. Shape, weight, strength, length were perfect for the job. I like the two sizes at each end to ensure you have exactly the right fit.

I wind springs every day and these are great. Perfect length for even low headroom and reverse pickup, hex so they won’t roll off a strut or frame, small end for quick winding and big end for whatever you need that for!

Intimidate at first look, but the job was made easy with these wonderful drum sticks. They have 2 different sizes at both ends. Build very sturdy and strong. Their length were more than adequate to make the spring torquing easy. I followed the instructions and watched tons of YouTube's before the final attempt. The key to this job is to be well prepare and practice safety first.

Apparently the seller tried to pull one over on me and sent a far less quality product. No hexes, no rounded tips, does not have the 2 sizes on the tips. Very disappointed. Waste of my time.
