The Jackson 5: Live At The Forum is a new 2-CD set released June 22 that uncovers an amazing chapter from the phenomenal career of Michael Jackson and his brothers in the J5: their extraordinary performances from the Los Angeles Forum, recorded in June 1970 and August 1972--the first at the start of their rapid ascent to stardom, the second when they became established icons. These brilliant shows have not been released in any form until now, the 40th anniversary of the 1970 show. Live At The Forum features earth-shaking live performances of the group's best-known hits - "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," "I'll Be There," "Never Can Say Goodbye" and more. Single B-sides "I Found That Girl" and "I'm So Happy" and such surprises as album cuts "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Zip A Dee Do Dah," plus songs not released by the J5, including covers of James Brown's "There Was a Time" and the Isley Brothers' "It's Your Thing," are part of the shows. The 1972 show also features a full, fantastic set of Michael's solo hits, including "Got To Be There" and "Ben," his brand new single at the time, as well as a solo spot by Jermaine. Disc 1 includes the Forum show recorded June 20, 1970, when the group broke existing box office records at the venue. The J5 were on their first national tour, and the show is a unique document of the growing "Jacksonmania" gripping the globe. Disc 2 is the complete show from August 26, 1972, just three days before Michael's 14th birthday. Each disc includes a bonus track: an unreleased full live version of "Mama's Pearl," from the concert that became part of the 1971 TV special Goin' Back To Indiana, closes Disc 1; "I Wanna Be Where You Are," from the soundtrack album to Save The Children, makes its CD debut at the end of Disc 2. Live At The Forum is housed in a collector's digi-pak with rare photos, collectable postcards of each Jackson brother and insightful liner notes by Mark Anthony Neal.

Buy this cd. It's amazing!.
Finally! The J5 "Live at the Forum". What I love most about these performances is that they were recorded when the Jackson 5 were in their prime. The electricity and energy leaps right off of the first song. You almost feel that you are right there with them on stage. Something that impressed me alot was the musicianship of the band. Think about it, Tito & Jermaine were ages 16 and 15 at the 1970 concert. They, along with Johnny (drums), Ronnie (keyboards) and even Jackie (tambourine) were tight! Compared to the studio versions of the songs they sang, this was very good for a group of teenagers to replicate those sounds. What struck me the most was by the time they returned to The Forum in 1972, you can tell that their skills had tremendously improved. Jermaine (bass) was killing it the entire 1972 show. OMG! And Tito was holding it all together on Lead Guitar. I absolutely loved the transition out of "Brand New Thing" (pause 3 seconds) straight into "I Want You Back". It was perfect. The audience didn't have time to catch their breathe before they hit you again with hit after hit after hit. I also loved the songs (B-sides, album tracks) that they performed during the '72 show. All of Michael & Jermaine's solo stuff was great. Marlon & Jackie have incredible stage pressence. The group as a whole was phenomenal. You can tell by my review that I'm a huge J5 fan. I always will be. I grew up to their music, tv appearances, Saturday morning cartoon show, etc. etc. Simply put, they were the definition of "Musical Legends". When I think about the artists & performers of today's generation, I think about how lucky I was to be a kid growing up listening to and watching the Jackson 5. And what more can you say that hasn't already been said about Michael. People seem to forget that long before "Thriller", he was the baddest frontman to ever hold a microphone. Still is in my opinion. And to many of us kids growing up in the 1970s, they were simply the baddest group, period. 'Nuff said. Buy this cd. It's amazing!

Great cd. It's worth the money. Wowwww, it really takes you back to the 70s.
It does take you back to the 70s. I'm a child of the 80s, but I gotta tell you I felt like I was in the audience. The only negative I'd say is they play the songs soooooo fast the times on the songs are shorter. LIke some 5 minute studio songs are 2 minutes on here. That's how they played 23 songs at a venue. My only negative is that "Stand" didn't make it on here. They explain it in the booklet or on the back that the sounds weren't working or something.Booklets!!!!! NOT booklet. Booklets plural. Loads of pictures and good researched information. It seems like the info came from a true fan that recalled a LOT of details about the concerts. I think it said something about each of the times the Jackson 5 came back to this venue, the music and such got better and better. (Like more money was put into this group as the hits got bigger).Great cd. Now I'm looking for the Victory tour live dvd and cd.

Can't get enough of the J5!!!!
I absolutely LOVE the Live at the Forum cd. I wish it were in DVD format...I would have loved to have seen them performing...I just have to use my imagination and picture it in my mind. It amazes me how professional the group was and the great thing is that they were professional even before signing on to Motown records - their dad made sure of that! I love to hear them blending their voices together; it's like listening to opera! I guess that is why I have always wanted the Jacksons to perform together as a group and had been awaiting the day they would do that professionally since they broke up long ago. I'm not talking about them just getting together to sing old songs but to produce new ones and present them to the public - but that is a dream long since lost and that now can never come to be! I do hope that the Brothers will produce something soon...if they want to and are able to do it. Thank you Jackson brothers for giving us such great music these past 40 plus years and may God richly bless your family as you continue to share the musical skills you have through other means.

Simply Wonderful
I am so glad I bought this CD. These two concerts are like a snapshot in time. The first one, from June 1970 shows an energetic and excited group, just releasing The Love You Save. There are several covers, which the J5 pull off like seasoned musicians. Michael commands the stage, a clear leader. He is so charming. I was laughing and smiling during the whole thing. The second concert is from 1972, just 3 days before Michael's 14th birthday. His voice is changing, but he nails Ben, Ain't No Sunshine and I Wanna Be Where You Are. Jermaine's voice too is smooth and romantic. The CD includes a booklet with some great photos and an essay. There is also a pull-out with a photo of each of the brothers and some personal tidbits about each one.I hope that J5 and MJ fans are aware of this CD - it's a must have. I was in love with J5 before and now I am madly in love!

GREAT CDs - a must have for any MJ fan and collector
These CDs are priceless. Listen to them in chronological order and you can hear Michael struggling to make those high notes on the 2nd concert CD (only days before his 14th b-day) that he had no problem hitting 2 years earlier. Yet his voice is still strong and clear and angelic as always. I personally loved hearing his burgeoning man-voice coming through in the 2nd concert CD, as that is the voice I fell in love with as a teen in the 80s. RIP MJ.

Where's The DVD?
I did not get to see them live during this era. It wasn't until they played the old Arena in St. Louis in 80 or 81 that I finally saw them. There's some clips on YouTube but I would love to have the entire concert. Back in those days they appeared on all the variety shows, and even had a couple of specials. I'm hoping those clips will be compiled on DVD like The Temptations and Supremes ones.

Feels like you right there on stage
I thought this was a video, but I'm not mad once you play this its like being right there with them. It is so exciting to hear them live and the energy from the audience. They are killing it on that stage and to hear their voices so strong you forget just how young they really were.

A brilliant Jackson 5 album!!!!
Well what can I say about this cd I have only owned it a day and I love it already, as the first reviewer says it is a definite must for all fans of MJ/Jackson 5.Both of these cd's contain loads of Jackson 5 hits performed live back in the 70's, I don't feel there is a lot else to say as the 1st reviewer has said it all really. Just if you love MJ, you will really enjoy this cd set.R.I.P MJ.X

amazing!
Unbelievable album! How young were they when they did this? So much talent right from the start. It's cool to hear them speaking to the audience in between songs, so confident and funny. Wish there was a DVD of the concert. Little Michael Jacksons voice is outstanding! The soul in his voice is unbelievable, can't believe someone that young can sing like that!

Genios. Sobretodo uno.
Genial.

Already a favorite
This double album is some kind of little bit of pure magic. It will only leave you with one single regret, that it isn't a dvd, or that you were not born at that time and a lucky one amongst the thousand people who attended those concerts. It shows and demonstrate how the Jackson 5 (and not only Michael) were just so professional and an excellent group from the very beginning. They truly deserve all the fame and success they had, and probably more.If you can only buy one album, then this has to be this one. No true fan can go without. The booklet is filled with black and white never before seen photos but I thought they were too few and some really too small, a good thing that the cds only were more than satisfying on their own!

Funky

Jackson5 live
TVショウの形では、Goin'Back To Indiana ,ライブ音源としては In Japan!(73')のみであった。 In Japan! I Wanna Be Where You Are' の高音部分のアドリブがGreat。

May you rest in peace.
