Bob Gordon Elderberry Perennial Shrub - Sambucus - 3.25" Pot

I have ordered 6 different varieties of Elderberry plant is Spring and the ones from Hurts is among the best. Several were nothing more than a cutting placed into a small pot and did not even have a leaf on the stem. Hurts delivered true health plants

After numerous flawless plant deliveries, I had an issue with this elderberry being damaged although it was packed well and delivered promptly. Hirt's promptly refunded my money. Now, I can say that they are the best for selection, packing, and customer service!

Ah but the image is beautiful and the price seems right. The 3.25" pot size seems reasonable also. What Hirt's fails to describe is what will arrive in the mail. Among the styrofoam I looked for green having located the two containers. There in both pots was a one leafed plant that seemed as though it had just emerged from their seedling stage and one of those leaves was already eaten by something and full of holes.Surprised I wrote to Hirt's saying "Very disappointed that you would advertise something the buyer would think to be larger and perhaps less fragile in its start on life." Alan Hirt responded claiming "All of our elderberry plants are that size. They are perfectly healthy." Yes perhaps in a greenhouse. Certainly not to be planted outside.Other nurseries have been more honest. In their four inch containers the specimen plant has been at least four to six inches in height or larger. So if you dont mind getting a one leaf plant that might or might not make it or already be eaten then go ahead. I'm still waiting for more leaves to grow and heaven knows I'm babying the poor things so that they can. It wasn't my intention to do so but it is my intention never to purchase from this company again.

This was packaged very well. I'm very pleased with the product.
