'Come on And Ride' was the first single release from the album and reached #67 on the R&B chart leading the way for bigger success with the follow up singles. Superb 70s soul beautifully remastered
In 1976 the group Enchantment came out with this, their debut self titled release. The five member male group had been developing their sound for 10 years and their true talent and cohesive musical ability shines through on their amazing debut. Disco was reigning supreme at the time and many acts released albums merely meeting the disco sound criteria. The first single by Enchantment was an amazingly fresh disco track COME ON AND RIDE. This song got peoples attention but the album was anything but one note disco and their follow up singles showed their versatility with the soulful ballad GLORIA and the urban soul SUNSHINE ruling the charts as each was released. This album is magic from beginning to end. The singles are all stand outs but other tracks like HOLD ON an impressive lengthy funk track, MY ROSE a glorious romantic ballad, the disco DANCE TO THE MUSIC and SEXY LADY a sensual r&b track all hit the mark as well. The album is presented on cd here by BBR and gets the usual BBR royal treatment. The remastering is superb with the sound simply amazing and there are extensive liner notes. There are also 6 bonus tracks including single versions of lengthier album tracks and an impressive 12" disco version of HOLD ON. ENCHANTMENT is a group that was a rarity in the 70s. Each member could really sing and their vocal versatility is displayed perfectly on this debut release. The music is in no way dated and the release stands true as quality soul/r&b/dance music. I highly recommend this cd. This is soul music at its best.

Not the best
The CD was well packed. The diiscography is wrong and the songs are recorded twice. Not the best CD by any means.Unless their is a particular song your interested in. Skip this one!

Great Music, O.K. sound, No need if you have the Best Of from EMI.
While this is the first time the complete record has been available on CD. Which is a Great thing, the mastering by BBR has again disappointment me. I must admit it does sound better than the records. I tested the sounds of this remastered cd against the best of cd "if You're Ready that was released by EMI Records which has 7 of the original 8 songs from this release without the bonus tracks (5 single versions and 1 extended version) I find that all 7 of the tracks on the EMI Records version sound better. So if you already have the EMI Records Best Of version you have 7 of the 8 tracks with betted sound, so ask yourself if the cost of this disc is worth it for SEXY LADY & 1 extended version, the 5 single tracks are useless as the full tracks are on the disc already.if you do not have the EMI Records Best of then get this one, but if you do have it then this is not required.

One of the greatest!
I first heard E.J. Johnson on a station that played classic soul. "Gloria" and "It's You That I Need" were in regular rotation. I was astounded that Enchantment were not a more celebrated group up there with the legends. These guys were so damn talented that the music just pulls you in.This remaster is their first album, lovingly redone with bonus tracks (all the 45 single versions and a 12" version), lengthy sleeve notes and reproductions of the record labels. Regarding the bonus 12" version of "Hold On" (which I'd argue as being one of the greatest dance songs of the era), anyone expecting a lengthy Moultonesque breakdown will be disappointed. This is the album version but slowed down a key (or maybe half step). For me, this modulation gives the song a sort of strange, trippy quality (maybe that's what was intended).Otherwise this is five star soul music.
