Overview
Terrific overview of the current state of fractals ....which isn’t all there is to know. Simple writing and helpful illustrations. Great entry level book to set your taste.

Highly recommend for a thorough and elementary introduction
This book provided a comprehensive and intuitive progress of ideas into the pervasive geometry of fractals. I’d recommend this to anyone interested in using math as tool to understand reality.

Short but Informative
As the name suggests, this book provides a short introduction of fractals, the math behind them, their application, and history. I came into this book having been inspired by watching a few documentaries on the subject matter and desiring to know just a little bit more about the mathematics behind fractals. This book did so effectively, and gave very good explanations of not only the mathematics of fractals, but also all of the supporting math used. The only reason I rated this book a 4/5 and not higher is that it appears to have a couple of errors in some of the equations. That or one or two of explanations were written in a way that left me very confused with how the author arrived at a conclusion.

It prepared me to read through Mandelbrot's "Fractal Geometry of Nature" with a good understanding of the ideas
This covers the basics well. It prepared me to read through Mandelbrot's "Fractal Geometry of Nature" with a good understanding of the ideas. It took me from "layperson" to "less laypersony." Great!

Spraying complex beauty
This is thrilling because you can plot examples yourself. Meaning that the whole thing is simple but the result will spray a complex beauty at your face. Behold! You are about to fall in love :-) Very entertaining book.

Eccellente
IMHO meglio di così, per introdurre una teoria matematica in 120 pagine, non si può fare. Chiaro, preciso, accessibile e sintetico.

Excellent Book
I have been reading 'A Very Short Introduction to Fractals' by Falconer. It has more diagrams and, I think, explains some concepts at a more concrete level than his other book Fractal Geometry 2e: Mathematical Foundations and Applications sometimes does, good as that book is. I am using this book alongside that more academic text on an OU MSc module (M835) and finding it an excellent source of well explained concepts and interesting background material. The maths is kept to a level that should be understandable by anyone with a reasonable interest and motivation. The figures and are well thought-out and clear and do much to help convey the core of the sub ject matter. The diagrams and index notation are a bit better on my PC than on my Kindle, but not by very much.Great price, too
