HARDCORE SUPERSTAR - HCSS - CD

Refreshing return to HCSS's roots
Very refreshing return to form for HCSS. This may be a somewhat polarizing release from HCSS since it is a departure from the 'street metal' sound of their recent albums. While I really enjoyed those albums (especially the self titled and dreamin' in a casket), I found their more recent output to be a little underwhelming (but still good).HCSS shows the band returning to their roots, experimenting, and re-working some of their earliest material, and IMO the results are great. The songs on this album have a soaring 70's rock feel mixed with hardcore superstar's punk and sleaze sensibilities. This is easily my favorite HCSS album since dreamin' in a casket

Not bad, not great either.
It's ok, not as good as their s/t cd. There's no "We don't care about sundays" or "My good reputation" on here.

Not a pure party record like their last but...
Not a bad album but what a departure from their heavy party sound...I spoke to soon earlier and lashed out because they changed their sound a bit. After listening to this album a lot (really) I ended up loving the album. Each song is an original sound and it's a very well done record. It's actually on my top 10 list for 2015. It's my #7

Painful but true. HCSS is a return to earlier days
One of my favorite bands--Hardcore Superstar is back with their newest release “HCSS” in 2015. I had read that the band wanted a “return to their roots,” and frankly that scared me quite a bit, and I’m here to tell you that they have, in fact, dropped a large share of their “street metal” sound. The album does still have some punch to it, but it’s somewhat for more reminiscent of their pre-self-titled album. The most noticeable thing about this album is that most of the “street metal” vibes are really toned down. The record doesn’t really have many songs that make you want to throw the horns in the air and goes balls-to-the-wall, and that made me sad, but the album does have some redeeming qualities. The overall vibe of the album is somewhere near a mix of ‘70s hard rock and glam, while containing subtle hints of funkiness. When I first listened to the album, I heard a lot more groove in the tracks and each song had its own appeal, never getting stale after several listens. The record is definitely not what I was expecting, and I guess you could say I was disappointed, but I still love these guys and have given the album a chance to grow on me. I thought this record may be a little revival and all, but it’s actually a full-blown renaissance for the band, and saw them ditch the majority of the sound that made me fall in love with them initially. If you really dig Hardcore Superstar and you feel the need to own everything that the band has done, then by all means pick this album up. I suggest maybe try sampling it for a while before you buy, though, you may be taken by surprise.

Deludente
