Tebebraex Quality
Recently purchased a scope with a 56 mm objective lens and I wanted to protect the glass. The lens shade supplied is 3" long but I needed something shorter and this ARD fit the bill. Not only protects the objective glass but it is only 1½" long and this model will accept the Nightforce lens cap system. Overall length of scope with this installed is almost 19 inches. While on order, I began to question the "skirt" on the threaded end and I was told by the seller that some pictures listed are stock photos and yours will be smooth. As can be seen, the new device has the skirt and installed, this is what it looks like. Decided to call Tenebraex directly in Halifax, Nova Scotia and learned this: The objective diameter for this ARD is in fact 56 mm but the skirt is the result of mating to a Nightforce scope that has a thinner outer shell than other scopes of 56 mm diameter. It was explained that to keep an ARD in every scope outer diameter would entail a plethora of part numbers, not to mention the different thread pitch for Leupold, Schmitt/Bender, Osprey and others. The next scope maker's outer diameter might be 1 mm thicker (or thinner) so Tenebraex worked to find a middle ground with one diameter that would fit the bill.Measuring the skirt diameter vs the OD of the scope, I find that the skirt is only .032" taller in height and that is workable for me. Tenebraex states their mission is functionality first and esthetics second in an objective this size.If my OCD becomes too overpowering, my barrel machinist could turn this in his lathe and bring the skirt down to the same diameter for a smoother transition line. The ARD is anodized but with such a small area that will be produced with a trimming, a quick solution is to use some black Magic Marker and paint the shiny part over to cover it up. Time will tell if I do this or not.Construction is sound on this unit, it is not plastic or some composite material. The honeycomb interior is also solid inside the barrel and my lens cap fits right into the indexable 'humps and bumps' on the front. This allows the cap to be indexed in any position desirable in 12° increments.I have a 50 mm screen on a Leupold and it is the same quality and has been on the other scope since 2011. No problems with this at all. Might be a tad pricey for some but when you have a scope heading into the 2200 dollar mark, it is a good investment in my opinion.Update:I had to do it. I had my machinist cut .032" off the skirt so the installed housing would fit flush with the barrel diameter of the scope. Next up: Anodizing but that can wait. Included picture shows the finished look as of now.

All are the wrong size!
Ordered four sizes of these... Three are too small, and one is too large!!! Why the hell don't they list the Diameter and Thread Pitch of these things? I now have $460 worth of the wrong size ARDs to return!
