Portrait Drawing: A Step-By-Step Art Instruction Book (Artist's Painting Library)

I wish I had bought this book first, it would've saved me a lot of money on other books I've tried. It's not only exceptional step by step instruction, it has great tips like doing the shading first to help with keeping proportion and great ways of sketching measurement "framework" to keep proportions accurate (saves a lot on erasers).

My 12 year old was able to take this book and go from sketchy facial composition skills to doing a pretty decent job with ease. She said it made a lot of sense to her and the instructions were really clear.

Loved it. Got this for my daughter. She learns visually only. She has improved after only a week. I am an artist too. I thought the explanation were easy to understand and informative.

I bought the book for my grandson for Christmas. It looks ideal. He is an amazing sketcher. But does have trouble with faces.

Very hard to draw.

I'd wager this instruction book was never used. I purchased it to brush up on my portrait drawing skills which I haven't used for a very long time. This is a slim book, but is just what I was looking for.

This is a good book for a beginner or an artist that wants to learn a different style of creating their works. I am learning a lot because I usually paint modern impressionist but his book is allowing me to try to create realism and I love it.

Very informative and well worth the purchase price.

This little book is an excellent aid to portraiture in pencil or chalk. It shows the ways to attain proficient results in pencil, which are most necessary, as you can correct any errors so much easier in this medium. Once you can "paint" accurately in pencil, you can progress onto paints, with a minimum of wastage of expensive oils or acrylics, making this an excellent outlay as it costs about the same as a tube of paint.
