it stop working

My original starter has been taking longer and longer to begin cranking after I turn the key and last week it simply quit trying. 318,000 miles isn’t too bad. Whacked it with a tire iron a few times and it got me home, then wouldn’t even try anymore. Bought this one based on their claims to having sealed bearings and made in USA. Getting the old starter off wasn’t too bad although the Haynes manual and all the YouTube videos were incorrect about how the 6.7L Cummins with manual transmission starter bolts on. Three 13mm screws hold starter to bell housing, one 15mm nut secures the power terminal, and unclip/slide off the wire connector to the solenoid. Gave the old one some love taps with a rubber mallet and it came out pretty easily. This new one I almost thought wasn’t going to go in, however. It is a TIGHT fit even after I cleaned out the residual clutch dust, road grime, etc from the hole in which it sits. Tight. Super tight. But it does go in with a bit of effort using the mounting bolts to draw it into place, plus some more gentle encouragement from the rubber mallet. The new power lead nut is 17mm instead of 15mm, but otherwise same-same. Seems to have done the trick - it now starts the moment I twist the key. Hope to get another 300,000+ miles from it.
