WOW, is all I can say
exactly as described and pictured.i am using this as my power source formy cabin.it is not any problem with the inverter, buti have a ceiling fan in cabin, and when i switchedfrom power company electric to inverter, I have togo to the light switch and power light off and backon to make light come on....like i said not a problem with inverter, but electronicsdoes not recognize the wave form at initial power-up...I am already making plans to purchase another one soi can have roughly 55 amps of power in my cabin....GREAT PRODUCT.....

Not sine wave!
The makers of this unit tought it as being able to run "refrigerators, washers, microwaves..." but beware. The output of this device is a split-level alternating square wave, which they call a "modified sine wave". Most "dumb" devices like light bulbs, drills, A/C motors, compressors, fans, etc. will run fine on this. However, when I plugged it into my new Sears freezer, it wouldn't even start the compressor. When I plugged in my microwave, it ran but made a terrible buzzing sound. The same thing happened to my refrigerator... it ran but made a terrible noise. I unplugged them right away for fear of damaging them. The long and the short of it is this. If you are in construction, and need ample, quiet, clean A/C power to run your heavy duty tools, compressors, cement mixers, etc. then this is a great product for you. If, however, you are a home-owner trying to deploy solar energy in your home, this product is not what you want. It flat out won't operate some appliances, and sounds like it's killing other ones! Go with a "Pure Sine Wave" inverter. They cost roughly double for equivalent wattage size, but the output is identical to what your power company provides. The AIMS Power Low Frequency 6000 Watt 24-volt Split Phase Solar Inverter Charger is what I recommend if you want to run your whole house on solar. It even has the charging regulator built right in. It puts out 240 split phase A/C and allows you to hook it right up to your breaker box. You can't do that with this inverter.

Great price and shipping
This is my second Wagan inverter and couldn't be happier with it. I installed the first one in what I thought was a water proof containment that I made. It's in the shop to be repaired. My fault. The new one is installed inside the motor home and is working great. Great product and great price from Amazon.com.

works, kind of
Living off grid, I thought it would be a good idea to have a large inverter. This inverter seemed to work fine until summer came on. Any time the air temp got over 100F the inverter would overheat and shut down. Didn't seem to make any difference if it was under large load or practically no load. Cannot reccommend. Too much money for an inverter that only works only in cool weather.Follow up 18 mos later: The original inverter went up in a shower of sparks and fire that could have easily burned down a house. Fortunately, the inverter was in a metal shipping container so no major damage done. Wagan sent me a new inverter as the original was still under warranty. The replacement sat in dry storage for 6 mos before I needed it. When I unpacked it and wired it into my system it too went up in a ball of fire when I turned it on. Since the replacement was not under warranty I took it apart. The electrical fire had started in a row of power transistors. Could clearly see where the arcs had jumped from the transistor leads to the heat sink bar then to the frame. Couldn't figure out why this would happen until I found water marks on the circuit board that showed the inverter had gotten very wet at some time. As the packing had been multi layers of plastic and the inverter was dry when I opened it, must have been exposed to water at the factory. As the arcing of both of these machines was intense, any surrounding combustible material would likely have been ignited. Poor inverter. Good fire bomb.

get a better one
an inverter is supposed to turn on fans to cool itself. The fans are hardwired to the on/off switch and can take volts off your batteries at night, depending on your batteries. I have one continuous for a few days then need to turn it off and then back on to do what it's supposed to. It gets weak, don't use a garbage deposal. not very continuous.

My husband loves it :) he got it for his work truck; big enough to run a microwave if he wanted too.
