Great book for therapists, their clients, and anyone who wants to make changes in their lives
I use this book with my clients a lot, and it's something they can do on their own. I do distance counseling, so we generally don't go through the workbook together. My clients work on it and then review with me what they're learning and how helpful they think it is, and we talk about what they're getting out of it. Every client to whom I've recommended the book so far has found it helpful. People who want to make changes in their lives without going to therapy will find this an excellent resource as well, and it's very user-friendly.

It works for me
I found this to be very useful and unlike most self-help books it was actually helpful.Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) is basically a form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapyand has quite a lot of evidence attesting to its efficacy.Essentially this workbook shows you how to deal with emotional problems and then how to actually change your behaviour and thinking.It is very practical and a step by step approach is provided in this book, though you don't have to follow it rigidly.It does require quite a lot of work and the book can be a bit dry at times.However the approach does make sense and you are not asked to take everything on trust but to actively deal with any doubts that you may have.It is quite a large book and there are various worksheets that you can photocopy.The author does have another book "Be your own CBT therapist that covers a lot of similar ground but is quite a lot cheaper than this book.It has been around six months since I have purchased this and I have found it to be immensely useful. Most other self-help books seem to give me a little bit of positivity but then are quickly forgotten. But I am still using REBT and it has greatly lessened my procrastination and shyness as well as reduced some of my other problems.It is not miraculous but I have found it to be genuinely helpful.
