ALL METAL JIG DOES NOT DISAPPOINT PLUS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
I use this jig in a pro setting and as such, my first requirement was finding an all metal jig, preferably with a case. Much to my relief, the jig showed up just as advertised, brand new and everything worked (more on that in a minute). The two common "issues" I've read, when researching this model, is the case and lack of instructions. Another review mentioned being careful with the case snaps but once you figure out how to open them, it's a non-issue and to that, I agree. As for instructions, perhaps that's an issue for a lay person but I'm sure most contractors can figure it out. Another reviewer mentioned there's tons of videos on how to use this style jig.I did encounter a minor issue, one of the set screws on the top plate (that slides over the vertical ruler), stripped. I contacted Vicray on a Saturday and they responded on Sunday! They were beyond helpful and fired off a replacement unit, asap. They were genuinely interested in what I thought of their product, being we're a contracting outfit. We had several interesting exchanges. I wouldn't be surprised to see additional improvements and greater versatility, with this model, sometime down the road.I'll direct this part to contractors: I had a checklist: all metal--carrying case--hardened steel bushings--ability to swap out bushings--reversible use--repeatable results--jig has to hold settings without moving--all rulers stay true and square--not cost a fortune! I'm happy to say, they delivered. Like other contractors, I balked at purchasing the more expensive jigs, as a bit overpriced (and no doubt, very well made). That led to a search for an alternate model and this one checked all the boxes (including the price point). Couple that with great customer service and we have a clear winner! Hope this review helped.

Simple and Accurate for Wide Range of Hardware
I was awaiting receipt of this unit since I had a project with 8 cabinet doors requiring two different vertical handles (and the prospect of 15 to 20 additional doors if this went well.). Well, the hardest part was opening the plastic case - my advice is "Be Patient" and don't force the clasps; once you figure out how to push the plastic "bump" they un-snap and re-snap "okay". The cushion inserts are very good and I can see making a wooden case to replace the plastic, but re use these inserts. The unit itself is well made and all components are metal, but you should think of it as an "instrument"; not a rugged tool/fixture. Logically assembling the components and assuring each is square before adding the next component gave me excellent results. The thumb screws held solidly for each size handle. But again, as an "instrument", plan your workspace ahead so you have a place to set this gauge down between handles (I had a towel on a portable workbench). Be careful! I'm sure if you drop this from any significant height, squareness would be lost & require a complete re-set.I used two Quick-Clamps to hold this gauge in place on each door. It worked well with one clamp on the "end stop" and one on the "center cross beam". This left both hands free and both bushings exposed for drilling.Bottom line is this drill guide gave me great repeatability and, once over the learning curve on the first handle, I was able to do each successive handle in just a couple of minutes. Well worth the purchase.

Could be more accurate, but a great value
First off - this thing is well made. Solid aluminum castings throughout and the case is excellent. Not sure what the reviewer who didn't like the case latches is on about, it's a standard plastic blow mold case. The only issue I have is that there is a little play in the large stop ("longitudinal slide plate") that runs parallel to the horizontal ruler. Because the set screw is only on one side, tightening the set screw shifts the plate and puts the jig slightly out of square. I measured 0.7 mm off with the jig set to 160mm c-c. You can mitigate this somewhat by putting a few layers of tape inside the slide to tighten it up and by only lightly securing the set screw. Doing that, I managed to get the error down to 0.3 mm. It's not perfect, but it's close enough, especially for $40. If you go this route, be careful to trim the tape so that it doesn't protrude past the plate and throw your holes off square.

Must have for the DIY'ers
If you are installing new cabinets or vanities, when it comes time to install the knobs and pulls this tool is a MUST HAVE. Don't waste your money on cheap knockoffs and useless pieces of plastic templates - they will ruin your doors and drawers and end up costing you more to replace them even if it messes up just once. This tool is very accurate and almost fool proof. Did a whole set of kitchen cabinet pulls (2 holes each) in just under an hour. Set it up for one door or drawer, lock it, and use it for all that are the same size.

Solid black metal jig.
I've just received this, and not put it to use yet. I've used some cheaper plastic ones that break just by looking at them. This one is solid, all metal and stainless steel rule. Very nicely made and the rule is etched not printed. The case could be better, but I didn't by it for the case. All my doors and drawer fronts will be consistent from now on. Would recommend the all metal over anything made of plastic.

Perfect tool for the job!
This tool is worth its weight in gold if you’re installing cabinet handles. I looked at a bunch of different jigs and ultimately went with this one based on the reviews and the fact that it was an all metal design. It was perfectly square so the handles all came out straight and level. It was easy to adjust and didn’t move once it was set. I was able to install 78 handles on different sized drawers and doors within several hours vs what would have taken me forever without this jig. It really just helped take a lot of the guess work out of poking holes in my cabinets. Plus, the storage case it came is nice and will keep the tool from getting damaged while not in use. Very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommend!

Installing Handles Easily
Love this gig. I have used this to install cabinet and drawer hardware while doing DYIs around the house. Makes so easy to drill the holes for exact placement of the handles. I truly recommend this tool for anyone. Well worth it.

Poor quality materials
So used the product twice and appears the plastic sliders for locking your set mark for handle holes are made of cheaper plastic, one of the sliders cracked at the 90 bend and another was starting to show stress marks. The set screws put too much pressure on the plastic and splay it out to the point of failure. Unfortunately had to return it and now looking for one made of all aluminum parts. The rest of the jig was solid just cheap plastic.

Solid
Received this product in a timely manner. It was well packaged and came without any defects or shortcomings as far as I could notice. All parts are metal and all measuring parts are metric as well as imperial. I liked that a small bag with hex key, and spare holes and screws were included: great service!I have to jig 12 kitchen cabinets doors and 9 drawer fronts. I will update this review once I am done in the coming week. Its been 2 weeks or so and used the jig to drill my cabinet fronts. I decided (after reading an earlier comment by someone) to not directly drill through the jig holes but instead mark the holes with a sharp pencil. I am glad I did so, because in spite of me being very careful and precise in mounting the jig against the fronts, there was an "ever so slight" deviation (again, I am quoting an earlier other comment) between the vertical holes (most of them did not line up perfectly plumb) once I drilled the holes! . I ended up using a bigger drill bit to make the holes a little wider (making sure the feet of the handle would cover the hole!) and a small level to plumb and level both the vertical and horizontal handles. All in all worth its money, major time saver, but I would not directly drill through the jig holes.

Well Made
The jig is fairly well made and sturdy enough for the average user. Time will tell as to how well it stands up. And as for me it should be fine for what I need it for.Its unfortunate that in all appearance, the packaging seems to have been opened prior to shipping. Parts weren't re-packaged properly and no instructions anywhere. Fortunately it is fairly easy to figure out and use, and there is no appearance of it being "previously enjoyed". I think what I received should have been available cheaper under the new and used offering from Amazon. At least I could have save a few dollars if it were.

Sturdy and Accurate
I almost bought the plastic versions but after reading the reviews went the this one that is all metal. It was worth it. I mounted 34 dresser drawer pulls each requiring 2 holes. Being able to measure, mark, then flip it over to the other side of the drawer was amazing.Great product and not just for cabinets.

This is an amazing product! Very high quality!
This is an amazing product! My contractor was going to use some home made piece of S@#T... So I bought this and was very surprised at the quality! An excellent product that worked perfectly! I may not need it again for a very long time... But thankfully my cabinet hardware is perfect!BTW did the drilling myself because I knew how important accuracy was.!THE ONKY Thing THAT Would MAKE THIS PRODUCT BETTER.... INCLUDE A 5mm transfer punch to make perfect drill location! (I didn't have a metric transfer punch... So I had to make one out of a 5 mm drill bit)
