Shappell Kodiak Jr. Sled

This is my second sled in 20 years. Yes the first one is still working fine, but I needed a second one. I have a small property with horses and goats. I use it in the winter to feed animals and to navigate my property that often floods. It floats and none of the hay gets wet. Through out the year I use it to move just about anything that will fit in side including my grandchildren when it snows. I can not imagine what I would do without it.

Study sled that is great for chores and for family fun!

This sled is quality made! I purchased this not for an ice fishing needs tote, but for my son-in-law to pull my 15 month old grandson in, either by hand or by a 4-wheeler. My husband being a jack-of-all-trades, is going to get a thicker rope, make the rope holes bigger to fit the rope, (putting in metal o rings to make the holes in the plastic stronger) create a seat w/a back and put a seat belt of some making...the sled is the beginning of this project, being the quality sled that it is, anything added will only make it even better!

Fairly heavy duty and best value I could find for the money, although all these plastic sleds seem way overpriced for what they are. The wall thickness is pretty stout, so should hold up well and pulled easy in the deep snow with two elk quarters.

Snow, ice, grass, sand... I shopped for (toy) snow sleds and found them to be expensive and the reviews indicated they weren't very durable. I work hard for my money and I didn't want to waste it on an item that could only be used after the occasional snow fall. I work with fishermen and hunters so I expanded my search to include harvest sleds. That brought me to the Shappell line of sleds. After Bass Pro Shop cancelled my back-ordered Jet Sled, I turned to Amazon. By now I've also missed the snow. I took the Kodiak on a spin down a slight hill covered in dry grass and underbrush, I had a hoot! I'm looking for a steeper hill to plow down. This summer, I'll be using it to drag our umbrella, chairs, cooler, pail & shovel over the sand to a spot on the beach - hey, if it can be used for ice fishing, I got this. I don't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait for next winter's snow! I bought it to have a great time with my 5 year old grandson and we can both sit in this. But I'm leaving it in my car and I'm not going to wait for him to visit before I hit the hills. Service on this was excellent. I ordered it on Wednesday and it was delivered on Monday via UPS. This is a life saver! I’m 74 with deteriorating back issues and live alone. I use this to “slide” in 40lb pellet bags from the garage right up to the stove! Bring in groceries & etc in one trip and haul anything and everything to where they need to go! Slides on any surface I have around my home, even gravel and asphalt. What a waste of time and money I’ve lost with other things that were total failures.I live on small acreage and this slide plays a big part in allowing me to maintain my independence.

We bought a Kodiak and the label on the one we received said Eagle Claw Shappell Jet Sled Jr. HD. Since we knew that Kodiak was suppose to be heavier duty than the Jet Sled , we sent a message asking the company with a picture. They said we got the right one but did not explain why Kodiak was not on the label. The other problem was that the sides are shorter than stated in the description by an inch making the description inaccurate. All this being said I still believe it is a quality product.
