Left-Handed Guitar Paperback – July 1, 1998

This was a gift for a young lady who had a guitar

I started playing a right handed guitar, upside down 45 years ago. Simply because you couldn't buy left handed guitars. I bought my first Left Handed Les Paul Custom in 1984. When I first started playing, I bought an Ernie Ball book on guitar (right handed) and transposed the chords, and learned more than what is in this book Left Handed Guitar. Other than some quick basic guitar facts, covering the parts of the guitar, this book, which is published by Hal Leonard, is not a lefties guitar book by any sense of the word. You will come away more frustrated and confused than anything. You could easily learn more using just a PT10 (Intellitouch) Guitar Tuner and watching a few instructional videos on YouTube. Or just a get a Lefties Chord Chart, print out a few songs you like, with the chords on line and practice. But most of all, I do not recommend this book. Get a good digital tuner, and a good chord book or chart if you are a beginner. Start there. And learn some Barre chords. 1 & 2 finger chords. As you progress, learn tab. But you won't learn it in this book. You wont learn musical notation, musical theory. He talks about it, but he doesn't teach anything. Other than showing a few diagrams. So, this is a waste of your money. A big waste.

This easy to read and use guitar book offers everything and more for the beginning left handed guitarist. It starts slow and easy, yet but builds nicely in level of difficulty in not too many pages. This complete guitar method will offer very helpful instuction for many years to come. I would higly recommend to anyone who is serious about learning guitar on their own.

Exactly what I needed!

This book is good but for starting out it needs some tuning. If you have some knowledge of guitars then this for you.

why is there no audio or videos to demonstrate exercises?however nice to look after our lefties, appreciate it.Thanks

book was fine but was missing CD that i believe comes with the lesson book. item did come quickly and was packed securely

Just what a lefty needs ,,,,so well written and easy to follow with cords easy to read and so well planned it is a very helpful bookto have on call

this book is fine if you are lafthanded and dont know your chords,it does tend to be more useful for the intermediate guitar player though

Started learning years ago but gave up. Now in my 40's and decided to give learning guitar another go - this but book reminded me that the basics can't be ignored. Do the lessons and you will improved.
