Works well
This vacuum is very good. It is easy to use everything is straight forward on the app. It is build sturdy I have accidentally dropped it or kicked it and it still works like new. The noise level could be lower but it not that loud regardless. It is also very compact so it’ll fit anywhere.

Perfect replacement for my 2017 model!!
Affordable and works great! Our 2017 Roomba 960 (or something) was $600 and worked near daily until a few weeks ago. It was loud! I trust the brand and was super excited that the new version is so much cheaper. It works very well. I have had a few issues that are concerning but have not put the time into solving them:-Trouble connecting it to the app and WiFi. Kept loading over and over and not recognizing/finding the device after it had showed up on the phone as being found. Operating it without the app currently.-Tricky to empty, awkward to pop it out and then unlatch it to empty. Major plus is that the bin is huge, holds a ton more dog hair/sand than the older version. Maybe they made it annoying so I decide to upgrade to the self emptying one!-Gets stuck numerous times on one leg of the coffee table. Always the same leg and it keeps returning to the same site three or more times per cycle after I move it awayPros:-Quieter than the original but still loud-Lower profile, goes under most of the furniture-Hardwood floors get really clean - picks up dog hair and sand/dirt very well!-Finds the way to the dock no problem-Long battery and bin lifeHaven’t tried the dust/wet mop component yet but I’m very happy with our new Roomba!!

Defective design
I bought this as a gift, but wound up returning it within a week because it simply did not work as advertised.First of all, it got stuck on everything. Everytime I started it on a run it would get stuck within five minutes, signal my phone with an error message and then turn itself off. It got stuck on throw rugs, under furniture, on cords, in tight corners, high thresholds, and on an area rug. What good is an "automated" floor cleaner if it requires constant attention every few minutes?Secondly, it never generated a map of my house so I could setup a custom cleaning schedule. We ran the "mapping run" several times and after 2-3 hours of ambling around it would return to its home, send a "successful run completed" message to my phone but would not generate the map! I had heard that the earliest first generation roombas would do this if it encountered an error during the mapping run (see point number one above!). But I would expect that issue to be solved by now, right? All in all I am very disappointed. It seems that to make the device work, you either have to constantly baby sit it, or you have to painstakingly configure your house, furniture, and anything that resides on the floor to make it roomba friendly.BTW, the algorithm that iRobot built in to the device to traverse the floor and go around or under stuff in your home in order to map or clean seems very primitive. It is very process based, that is it seems to follow a basic decision tree like an old school flowchart. And when the flowchart runs out of steps to follow it simply stops and sends an error message. In this day and age I would expect that they would be using AI instead. For instance, my device consistently got stuck under a piece of furniture with a high floor clearance in the middle but tapered down to nothing at either end. The roomba would enter at the high middle, move around underneath the piece, and then attempt to exit at the narrow end where it would get stuck. An AI based model would simply reverse the moves it had made to get to that point and then learn to always enter and exit in the middle. All in all, I'm not sure why this product sells and gets high marks. I suspect it is mostly because of the "cool" factor. It's cool to have a cleaning robot, the company name iRobot plays off of that. Society always has a segment that will tolerate ineffectiveness in order to be cool. For the rest of us who prioritize products that are best in class, the time will come when cleaning robots actually work, but that day is not today.

Works great, but there are some "gotcha's"
This is my 3rd Roomba. I had one of the very first generation Roombas, a 610 that I used for a long time, and now this one. Overall, Roombas are great for what they are if you have realistic expectations. This one brings some great new additions.Firstly, the room mapping feature is pretty good. It means you no longer need to confine your Roomba to a single room like you used to have to do. You send your Roomba on a mapping run, let it finish, then name the rooms it finds. It did a pretty good job in my house the first time. My house is a rambler that was built in the 60s and added on in the 80s. There are doors everywhere, so I thought it would struggle with that - but it didn't. Once you have all of those rooms named, you can open the app and send it to clean any of them one at a time if you'd like. You can also set up a group where you decide which rooms it will clean in which order. It goes and does it, and returns to its base. Easy Peasy. I'm a Google user, so I LOVE the fact that I can just say "Hey Google, vacuum the living room" and it runs off and does it. It probably does the same with Alexa.Secondly, the fact that it can actually find its charger base is a godsend. My old 610 would try to go back to the base, but never actually find it, so I was constantly playing "where's the Roomba?". It's funny at first, but get's annoying really quickly.Third, they changed the brushes. The older style had a brush. The newer Roombas have these rubber sweepers that don't get clogged nearly as much as the old ones did. They also seem to find more dirt.Gotcha #1: The collection bin is much smaller than the older versions. If you don't buy the auto-empty base (like me), and you have a dog (like me), you'll find that it struggles to do more than one or two rooms without aborting because the bin is full. I suppose this is a planned "bug" to get you to buy the auto-empty base thing. It's not the end of the world, but so far for me, I haven't been able to allow it to clean more than 3 rooms at a time. Then I have to empty and clean the bin. The good news here is that you get a notification that the Roomba couldn't finish the job you gave it. Once you clean out the bin and put it back on the charger, it goes back and finished up.Gotcha #2: the filters. There is one permanent filter on here, and it seems to get clogged very easily. It's not tough to clean it, but you have to wash it with water and let it dry. That means you have to wait a while between when you clean that filter and when you're able to use your Roomba again. There is also one non-permanent filter. It's very small and also easily clogged. I know they expect you to change these filters a lot, but I'm not going to pay for filters over and over again, so I'll always try to clean them as much as possible first. The way this one is made is different from the old style, so it's much harder to cleanout. Again, not the end of the world, but be aware that you're probably going to want some replacement filters at some point, and you never know how much that will cost you later.Gotcha #3: they never changed the charging base since the last version. It's far too light, and the pads that are supposed to be able to magically hold the base in place when the Roomba tries to dock are insufficient for the job. Several times, I've found my Roomba trying to dock, but it pushed the dock sideways and couldn't do it. *update* I've used this almost every day since I got it, and it seems to have figured it out - or at least I haven't had that problem since.Gotcha #4: Floor rugs. For some reason, this new Roomba seems to struggle with my floor rugs much more than my old 610. I'm not entirely sure why, but it has a tendency to flip them up. So far, it hasn't caused much of an issue because it eventually figures it out, but my old Roomba had no problem with any of the area rugs in my house. *update* I replaced some of the older worn-out rugs in my house. Problem solved.Overall, I'd say this was worth an upgrade from my older 610 just for the room mapping feature. I hated moving those little lighthouse things around, and now I don't have to.
