Watch Out for the Scraper Sponge!
The jar is fine. The stickers, chalk pen, etc, all fine EXCEPT the scraper/cleaner thing. I was washing it and there was a very sharp burr on the plastic part along the sponge that I didn't see and whilst I was washing it, it sliced my thumb! To add insult to injury, it's worthless. The handle snaps on but doesn't stay on with any cleaning or scraping pressure. Like I said, the rest of the kit is fine, my starter has plenty of room to roam in the big jar!

Does the job
Missed the fact it was plastic, but the lid does fit well. The shape is odd and I now understand why two foam cleaning brushes were included. Does the job intended.

WAY bigger than you will ever need to grow or maintain a sourdough starter
If I was simply reviewing a nice tightly-sealing tall glass jar, I'd probably give this 5 stars. But this is marketed as to be used for your sourdough starter, and as far as being good for that? Unless you plan to bake multiple large batches of sourdough every day, I can't imagine ever needing a jar this size for sourdough starter. It's SO big. Too big. I bought this thinking it'd just be the 'correct' size since I didn't know a thing about sourdough, but after just a couple days use I stopped bothering with this thing - it's SO tall, SO large, scooping out your starter or discard, as well as stirring in your flour/water is difficult & messy, & you need a very long spoon to do it. The one thing I may end up using it for is to store larger volumes of starter discard in the fridge, so I can have it on hand for other recipes. For the starter itself though? I just use one of those round translucent plastic 'to go' containers you'll get your Thai take out in & it works perfectly.

Better for sourdough starter than a mason jar.
This works out better for my sourdough starter than a mason jar. I killed 4 starters before changing to this jar. The rubber flat on a mason jar lid suffocated my starters. I removed the rubber ring from this jar and it allows enough air to seep in and out. I don’t refrigerate my starter as it is used constantly so keeping it on the counter and fed regularly requires good oxygen exchange. It’s a good heavy quality glass and the wire snaps hold up well to regular use. The little sponge cleaning stick is handy and I don’t have to try and stuff the dish cloth down in the jar. I have found in the past that this type of wired closures don’t hold up well to dishwashers so I haven’t attempted it with this.I even got my DIL started with sourdough and purchased one for her also.

This jar is really too big for sourdough starter.
I have a few sourdough starter jars, one for each type I’m doing. This jar is way to big and bulky for any of them. It’s a pain to wash or clean up. Just not very practical.

Great starter jar.
Love the size but the red marker is too stiff and hard to manage and the thermometer is not great.

Excellent starter home
I love this container. The lid is snug and snaps on tight, just don't overfill the container with starter and you'll have no problems. The temperature gauge has never worked but it's ok because you really don't need it. I love the magnetic strip that allows you to see how much your starter has grown, so that's a nice addition. Because of the ridges l, there are a lot of corners s which are hard to clean, but honestly, you don't really need to clean this container unless it becomes contaminated.

Hard to clean
I really liked the idea of a magnet that shows/ measures the level of your starter. Although it still works, the magnet label disintegrated after a couple times of washing it. The inside is extremely hard to clean, because there are so many grooves in the sides of the container, and the lid is extremely hard to clean as well because of the same. there are too many grooves on the inside of the container that make it difficult to incorporate your flour and water when you feed the starter.
