Good results at a low price.
I've had this depth/fish finder for about 3 weeks now and overall I'm pleased with it. Its ice fishing season here and ive taken this unit out about 6-8 times now. I have noticed that the colder it gets the more it will lag on you. Temp was -3°F this morning and it wouldn't hold its readings while I was out in the open. Once I moved into my shanty and ran my small heater for about 20 minutes it started operating normally. If temps are in the mid 20s or higher it has operated fine.I have noticed that it will not pick up on very small fish (minnows) or your lure, so if you are looking to use it to adjust your lure depth I would suggest a higher quality unit. It will however mark fish over 3-5 inches or larger. As anything smaller wouldn't be worth keeping I'm fine with that.Make sure you read the small manual that comes with this unit. You WILL need to know how to make the proper adjustments to your sensitivity and back lighting. Best thing you can do is play with it a bit until you get used to it.For the price, I'm very happy with this unit. This is an inexpensive unit and as such you shouldn't expect the same quality as a $2-300 unit. But it does work and it's readings are pretty accurate. I would buy this again at this point.

I found it to be an excellent product. It seems to accurately identify fish as ...
When I received the product I was unable to use for the first time until about 4 weeks later. It was clear the product did not work as advertised so I contacted the company about a refund. Even though the date by which I was to have asked for a refund had passed, the company representative agreed to a refund; however, I was asked to accept a replacement instead. I agreed to do so and was immediately sent a replacement Venterior Fish Finder. I did not even have to return the original product! After testing the replacement, I found it to be an excellent product. It seems to accurately identify fish as I consistently catch fish only in areas that show to hold them. Further, I have tested the depth with a string and weight and found that function of the unit to be accurate within a foot. The water temperature is also accurate when compared to a digital thermometer I used to carry with me; now I have no need to carry the thermometer. Another functionality that is particularly useful is finding water temperature at various depths. Because the cable is so long, 25 feet, it is very simple to slide the float up the cable, which allows one to check the temperature anywhere in the water column up to about 20 feet. I love this product, especially for the money, and am very impressed with the customer service.

Fish finder
I originally purchased this for my tube. in the mean time i purchased a kayak. the kayak has capabilities of mounting the transducer and so far, works well. The original one i received apparently had a problem. after contacting the company, a replacement was sent and it works as advertised, am anxious to get out there and fish and get REAL familiar with this device. i did actually read 2.6 ft in water that was right at 2.6 ft. i recommend this to anyone who wants an inexpensive "fish finder" for reading the depth, temperature and whatever else this will do. I need to follow up on my comments after using it a couple more times. It worked as advertised, i.e. read the depth and temperature and supposedly detected a fish or two as i floated along. this morning, third time out, when i turned it on after clearing any close bottom areas, the depth couldn't decide if it was 214 ft or 282 ft and the sounder kept beeping like there were a million fish beneath me. i'm disappointed at this point but won't go with another one, will chalk this up to less expensive experiences and buy something that will WORK PROPERLY.

Cute little toy.
This thing seems more like a toy than an actual device. I ordered it for a Christmas present, and even though he didn't have high hopes for it, I gave it the benifit of the doubt because I had read all the reviews:::good and bad::: I knew it wasn't the best out there and was a cheapo set so I figured numbers and what not wouldn't be exacts but would be close and fun to get an idea of depths etc. what changed my mind was when we were out in the boat in the lake activly using the finder and the wire got a bit tangled with the anchor rope. I grabbed the finder, in plugged it from the sonar sensor then I set the finder down on the boat while I untangled the sensor. The finder started beeping and telling us there were fish near and somewhat often.. However the thing still wasn't plugged in am to the sensor. The sensor wire was in my hand and the finder was on the boat not touching anything or anyone. Also we were out in the deepest part of the lake and the finder said it was 38 ft. (We KNOW it's way deeper than that) then later we had moved to a place closer to the shore and could basically see the bottom and the finder said it was deeper in that spot.In conclusion, this thing is a joke and a waste of $40. We would've had a better time spending that $40 on a nice dinner instead of dealing with this toy. Needless to say, no I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and I wish I could get my money back.

Not bad for first time finder
Pretty good. I like most the temp reading and depth accuracy. I fish on a boat that is know for random deep falls and shelves. The middle of the lake reads about 7 feet where some spots close to the shore are up to 13feet deep! The fish finder part I'm fiddling with. if I remember I will update. I float it behind my kayak and if I'm paddling hard it thinks the rush of water are giant schools of fish. I wish they would send more of the yellow floats or sell them separately. I had to Macgyver pool noodles and rubber stoppers to keep the string floating to keep it from getting tangled in brush on the lake bottom.

Fish display and temperature worked great. The depth reading
I took mine to the local lakes fishing pier for s short fishing trip. Fish display and temperature worked great. The depth reading , however, was WAY OFF. It said I was in 290 feet of water. No way. The water was stained so I couldn't visually say how deep it actually was. I will try it on my kayak next week and see how it does. If it doesn't read the correct depth ill go get a Lowrance or Hummingbird portable. Knowing the water depth is important for me.Took the kayak out today and the fish finder for the 2nd time. It worked just fine. It actually read true shallow at 2 feet. I'm satisfied with it.

This is a fully portable, in your pocket kind of device.
I like this product. It appears to be well made and is fully portable. The screen is easy to read and the device is ready to give you water depth and temperature and a sense of if there are fish within range of it's transducer which is on a 25 foot cord and float that you cast out into the water. As a small and portable unit it is not fully featured - there is no GPS locating or saving - you would need to use your phone for that. As for clarity and accuracy of reporting bottom conditions and the presence of fish - I suspect it may be somewhat limited compared to much pricier units you might install in your boat - (thinking Garmin for hundreds of dollars) - but I also suspect it may be better than fishing blind. I like the unit and can't wait to try it out.
