Excellent design and quality USA production
Mine has superb "walk and talk" when opening/closing, perfect blade alignment, and arrived in a new, seemingly unopened box, tightly wrapped in paper inside, with the manufacture date of 12/16/15 clearly printed on the outside, and extremely sharp blades out-of-the-box, both of which are solidly seated with virtually no lateral wobble. The 1095 Chromium Vanadium steel is better than stainless steel without requiring extra care unless you expose it to water or other conditions that cause rust. The very pronounced half-step when opening and closing reassures me that I won't accidentally cut myself when closing the blades. Handle is 3 1/2 inches long, blades are about 2 1/2 inches long, both about 1/2 inch shorter than the regular Trapper, which is pretty big for a pocket knife, making this model more reasonable for EDC. The spey blade is the right tool for cutting food that is wrapped or inside a container and you don't want to puncture it with a sharp tip. The classic yellow Delrin handles reduce cost compared to bone and make this easy to spot if you drop it. If you must own just one Case pocket knife, this is an excellent choice, plus like every Case it's made in the U.S. of A.!!!

Sleek and Sharp
I wanted a classic "grandpa" type of knife for myself and I found this beauty. Its clean, smooth, and sharp. The folding mechanism is smooth but it takes a bit of force to pull the blades out. I'm ok with this though, it ensures that it won't just flip open. I would advise to be careful when folding the knife though because it is very sharp and once you start folding you want to have a good grip on the blade and have your other fingers out of the way or it might snap shut on your fingers- it would definitely cut you pretty good if you're not careful. Overall the color is good too- its not super yellow- more like a really discolored white, which I like. I also would like to see more of Case's other options on Amazon as well.

Great little pocket knife
There is nothing to dislike about this product. It is an actual Case knife and the price is better than buying in a store. It came razor sharp and is a quality knife

A fine pocket-sized knife for normal daily uses
I have two Mini Trapper knives. This review was originally written for the one with chestnut panels. I have edited it slightly for the yellow delrin panel knife.I own several Case XX pocket knives and it's hard to find fault with any of them. If you are a collector and want to haggle about something, you probably could find the occasional knife with an uncentered blade or poor factory edge. But, on the whole, the vast majority of the Case knives I own have been as well made as knives costing 2-3 times more and better value than knives costing 2-3 times less. Case just plain makes good pocket knives at reasonable prices.Of all the styles Case makes, I rank the Trapper near the top for most purposes although the Stockman remains my favorite and the pattern I consider the most versatile. The full size Trapper is enough knife for most heavier cutting tasks but at just over 4 inches closed, it can be a bit too much for a pants pocket already stuffed with keys, coins, nail clippers, cell phones and whatever else we can jam in there. The Mini Trapper is the same configuration as the full size model but a little bit smaller and a good bit more pocket friendly. The down-sized knife will provide good service for most people's needs. If you're a knife knut like me, you probably have more than one cutting instrument accessible most of the time anyway--usually a larger knife, hatchet or axe in the vehicle--so settling on a knife the size of the Mini Trapper for pocket carry makes very good sense. This particular Mini Trapper has yellow delrin panels and chrome vanadium blades. It is very retro in design, looks nice and the delrin is tough for those who work their knives hard. The panels on my knife has the panels perfectly set and aligned. I own another Mini Trapper with jigged chestnut bone panels--also perfectly fitted--and that knife is really smart looking. Both knives are up to daily work tasks and I carry both of them on occasions. While it's more traditional to the older style slipjoint pocket knives like Case, the CV non-stainless steel requires a little extra care to prevent it from rusting. It's not hard to take care of, however. You clean it after use, never put it away wet or dirty, intermittently apply a little oil to the joints and the surface of the blade and let the knife develop a patina. The patina is the darkening of the steel that non-stainless blades develop from contact with the chemicals in various substances. This patina helps to protect the blade. If you're not up to taking care of your knives or you just like for them to stay shiny, Case also makes these knives in stainless steel and it performs well. I like the non-stainless steel because it is so easy to maintain a sharp edge and to resharpen when it does become dull. The Mini Trapper has two blades--a California Clip point blade and a Spey point blade. It's hard to argue with the usefulness of either of these blade designs. The "California" style clip is slightly differently shaped from standard clip point blades but it has the same uses. I don't think I'll ever need the Spey blade for castrating calves out on the ranch but the more rounded point is good for purposes when you don't need a sharp pointed blade. Both blades do fine for slicing apples, stripping wire, whittling wood, opening packages and other mundane daily tasks. These days you can spend a lot more for a pocket knife. You can also spend a lot less. As far as value, quality build and excellent functionality, I highly recommend a Case XX pocket knife.
