Trust me when I tell you , I think by now I have a pretty good idea what makes a decent HDMI cable . These are cables are excellent . Over the years , I have had lots of HDMI cables , by various brands , Neet , Cambridge Audio , QED , Trust , Audioquest , Belkin are the few that spring to mind , HDMI cables have been around now for nearly 2 decades , so it's pretty easy to get hold them , choice of brands is huge also , so what makes these a serious contender ? Well , the price , I got the 0.5 mtr for 7.99 . And it is excellent , the feel , the look , you can see in the pictures it has the 8K and HDMI logo on the actual body of the product . I also got the 1 mtr silver / black edition as well , so you can compare see what both sides of connector interfaces look like. I also got the cables in anticipation for when I get a new TV , needed to be sure I had the right cables ready , so if anybody asks , I have not tried them in a 4K /8K set or device of any nature , only in a 1080 tv and blu-ray , and absolutely no issues what so ever , but if my memory serves , I would not expect there to be , being that I believe , Primewire are german , and having purchased speaker cable over the last 20 years , which in my experience is usually German , I firmly believe that the quality is excellent value for the money . Few things to note , the cables are braided , they are the nylon - cloth style hybrid mix , good , but they are not the PVC style /type of outer jacket type. The thickness is very good , very much in line with all the other brands , so all in all , an excellent buy for the money , However , I do have one gripe , it might come of as petty , but as someone who has been an Amazon customer for a decade , it needs to raised , the packing / the wrap / the bag it came in was not needed , nor was it welcome. Like I said , been a customer for 10 years , and I want to know what happened to the frustration free packing ? If there was ever a perfect candidate for frustration free type packing , this was it , look at the final photos , have a look at the types of packaging that Amazon offers for other brands of items that they sell . Notice a pattern ? Nearly all these items , that were in these packages , were all from Amazon , were all under £10 also , with the exception of the frustration free style packing from Crucial , that was from their SSD that I also purchased from Amazon . I was even able to get one of the cables in the brown envelope with ease . The issue I am trying to put forward with my point , is that the era of wasteful packing / packaging is over , I love the frustration free packaging and just wish Amazon would stop using these plastic type bags which are simply going to be thrown away , and , or are much harder to recycle. The actual bags Primewire supplied was nice to look at , but the same effect could of been achieved with the cardboard style / frustration free envelope , the actual details and info on the bags and info card I believe would of been easier to print off on a small sheet of paper or on the envelope itself. For that reason , I am going to give the Primewire HDMI 4 stars , which I believe is a fair and honest review .

I usually get the Amazon Basics HDMI leads. This is a bit more than twice as expensive, but it is double the bandwidth that I need and I consider that to be a useful extra. It is also more flexible than the Basic 4k HDMI 2.0 and fits to the screen with a more useful cable path. I like this cable.

Edited on 02/Dec/2020Replacement product arrived free of charge, and ARC functions are working fine. Previous unit must have been faulty then. Rating updated from 2 to 5.Original comment: Went back into packaging after 15 minutes of use. ARC (Audio Return Channel) functions were not functioning at all between Sony A8 and Sony AV receiver. Same feature was okay on previous HDMI cable. 1080p video signal was going through (hence the 2 stars), although have not seen the point to test on 4k/8k as it was specifically ordered for higher bandwidth with ARC.

Works flawlessly with PS5 4K HDR. Don’t waste your time with a cheaper cable like I did.
