That was fun!
This was a fun little project. Instructions/reviews say it is about a 3-hour project. But I recommend that you take your time and enjoy it.The instructions are very accurate. If you follow them, you will be successful. (I do recommend that you be careful about tightening things like the parts for the fan around the water pump. If it's too tight, it won't rotate the fan during operation.) All parts were present. I saw one review that said there was a missing part. If you don't look carefully, you may think that. A screwdriver with a magnetized head was provided- that was fabulous. I also used wire cutters and a utility knife. Towards the end of the project, I pulled out the ol' nail clippers- should have done that sooner as it would have made trimming easier. Be sure to trim off all the rough edges where it detaches so that you have a smooth operation at the end. It's pretty cute when it runs. The parts move and the sound of the engine is clear, unmuffled. (One review said the sound wasn't very good- can't agree with that.)It was packaged well and arrived relatively quickly. The manufacturer's packaging was very sturdy also.I'm very glad to have made this purchase. It was both fun and educational.

Exactly as described
The media could not be loaded. This rather pricey model does live up to the hype. Not difficult but adult supervision is advised. Pretty close to the 289 in my 1965 Mustang. Clean all burrs. Be advised, no way to turn the volume down (a bit annoying). Do not oil, it will ruin the plastic. If you feel lub is necessary, use wax...simple candle wax will suffice. (Bees wax even better)Anyway, this model is top of engineering and highly recommend if you're into it.

Fairly accurate engine. Very good quality
My son and I spent hours having fun building this. He learned a lot about how engines work and is now interested in cars. I do recommend this. A little pricey though.

Fun build but could use some improvement
I enjoyed building it a lot, but there are a few things that could be better.1)accuracy. I know its just a plastic model, but I would have like to have seen the air and exhaust paths inside the head, instead its just hollow.2)valve springs are way too week. over half of them aren't even strong enough to return the valve and rocker arm to the normal position. probably an easy fix if i can find the right size spring.3)fitment/tolerances. again, i know its a plastic model, but there is way too much play in the crankshaft and connecting rods in my opinion. given the fact that it spins so slowly, theres really no concern about friction from tighter tolerances. also the rocker arm are connected on a kind of ball joint to the head so they can pivot side to side a bit. it still functions, but it looks silly to hang off the side when not under tension.4)speaking of speed, the motor attached to this spins it PAINFULLY slowly. I understand not wanting to generate friction and damage it, but you could do a bit faster than this. i'll probably try to find a way to modify it lol.all in all its a fun build for a kid or something, but as an adult i wanted a bit more for the price.

Great Kit
I bought this model for my son who likes mechanical things and used to own a Mustang. Due to an injury, he has the use of only one hand, but he was able to assemble the model. The pieces fit well, the instructions were clear, and when it was done, the model worked perfectly. I was amazed at the detail of the kit--that the valves open and close and the sparkplugs "fire" when they are supposed to, demonstrating the four cycle internal combustion sequence accurately. This would be a great parent-offspring project that is fun to assemble and informational/instructional.

The kit is great
The kit is great, the sound is mediocre, but other than that - five out of five

The PERFECT gift for a Motörhead.
The media could not be loaded. Got this for my Girlfriend for Christmas. She’s a parts manager at a dealership and has built MANY 3-D models. So I figured to combine them. It took her 3hrs start to finish.

Care required
I assembled the engine but got a spark on only one plug, and the engine didn't turn. So I disassembled to the point of retrimming all the pushrods (44) and checking they moved freely, and ensuring all the sprockets at the front of the engine engaged properly... and lo! and behold! the engine turns, lights up and makes noises just as it should. Edd, Ant and Mark (Elvis) taught me well!
