More like 4 1/2 stars...
It's a great set indeed...but I have a coupla issues with it. Nothing with the sound and remastering...all terrific...and the box is handsome-looking, absolutely. First...no essays on each album... would be nice to get some insight on each album, but at least there are full proper credits. Second, the pictures of the box are a drop misleading. I was under the impression that each album was gonna be colour coded like in the pic... nope...the spines are the same black & white, which makes it look like a set of encyclopedia volumes...no stickers and the discs themselves are not the same colours either but duller lighter colours, not as appealing to the eye. And third, many of the album's had skimpy tracklistings in regards to extras, and the DVDs had hardly anything on them, like 3-4 vidclips and as little as two TV appearances, like um, THAT'S IT??!!??!! With "Learning To Crawl", the total amount of music could have all fit on 1 disc, for instance. Either add more stuff or condense. No interview footage either. Otherwise, great box, just debating whether I should get "Pirate Radio" back or not...for the DVD on the set and a handful of rarities not carried over...and the booklet...I used to have it...may need it back...and it also has tracks from their first post-Warners album "Break Up The Concrete" which is not in this box...have to buy it anyway and the new album too, "Alone"...aside from these flaws I am happy to have this box.

A fine collection
A career spanning retrospective of the Pretenders work. It starts off with the bands debut melding hard rock and punk with Chrissie's swagger. It moves through the ventures into pop, soft rock, and ballads as well as all of the line-up changes. There is plenty of bonus material and a dvd with each release that highlights the promo videos and the television appearances. This box set only represents the Sire/Warner/Real years.

Massive Pretenders Set
A expensive collection but, has almost everything except a few things "Pirate Radio" has on it. I collect Pretenders and when this came out I went through a friend of mine in the UK to get mine (it was not available to the U.S. consumer). Even got my name on the poster which is limited to 500 buyers only, so did my buddy who got it for me. This one is for the die hard collector or the person waiting for everything to come out at once to get almost everything. There are ad least two tracks it misses, 1) 1969 which I have on a 3" CDS and 2) the original "Wait" 45 version which, is on "Pirate Radio". So if your in the market for the whole Enchilada, this is the ticket. If your limited on funds, try "Pirate Radio" covering the early albums. If your a person looking for a sample, try the greatest hits collections available in different track configurations.Drop by my webite sometime @ "JudeMac Forever" and look around. Almost something there for about everyone.

Chrissie Hynde... what more do you need?
Some fantastic music in this little box, even if there are some duds here and there. Chrissie Hynde is a goddess!

Satisfactory, could be better
Satisfactory, could be better, as my old school reports used to say! Nothing wrong with the music, that's 5 stars plus, nor with the content, masses of bonus material here. No, it's the remastering that's the problem. As a couple of reviews have already stated, these discs sound very bright and tinny considering they are supposed to represent an improvement over previous issues. This isn't necessarily a huge problem as it does mean you can hear every detail in the music, I'm currently listening to Hymn to Her through headphones and it sounds divine, but it does make for a rather tiring listen over time. Having said that, the sound does improve chronological through the discs with Pretenders II being the worst culprit.I'm a sucker for a box set like this, particularly when it includes the entire output of an artist I've only previously dabbled with. The recent Bruce Springsteen and George Harrison sets are perfect examples of how this should be done. The remastering on both of those is exemplary. On a positive note, unless I have cloth ears, and I'm pretty sure I haven't, I am unable to detect the left channel drop out on the Isle of View DVD reported by a couple of other reviewers. Maybe this is only a fault with some pressings. Having said that, the sound is only in 2.1 anyway and the picture quality leaves lot to be desired, but considering its age it's more than acceptableIn summary, then, a pretty reasonable buy for the hardcore fan and newbie alike, just don't expect audiophile sound quality.

Caja con 8 discos de los Pretenders remasterizados.
Una estupenda caja con 8 discos de The Pretenders. Remasterizados, con DVD extra y bonus track. Muy recomendable. El sonido remasterizado en 2015 es estupendo.
