This thing freaking rocks lol
I'm very amateur when it comes to 'fancy'-ish coffee brewing, I've basically just been using my dads chemex and aeropress and trying a few different bean/roasts etc., but if you're looking for a single-cup coffee solution I think a phin is definitely the play.Beautifully simple, just a few pieces of stainless steel, so easy to clean, no questionable plastic elements being exposed to hot water, and no dealing with buying disposable paper filters (epic). Also a set and forget solution, no waiting next to it and pressing like the aeropress, no topping it up and constantly pouring like the chemex, just wet the grounds, fill it up, and go do whatever for 5-10 minutes and your coffee is ready.Advertised for the traditional Vietnamese coffee, but I'm not trying to drink half a cup of condensed milk every morning lol, so to adjust coffee strength to whatever your heart desires you can just use different grind sizes, smaller or larger quantities of said grounds in the phin, and finally different amounts of water in the phin then fill your cup the rest of the way with hot water at the end to reach whatever strength/dilution you're looking for.I'm no expert like I said, but the combined simplicity and versatility this thing offers is crazy compared to other brewing methods. If you make coffee for 1 person frequently, I would definitely recommend a phin over any other coffee brewing method I have seen/tried so far. Love it.I got the 13oz phin because while it's recommended for 2-3 servings, I figured the increased size would offer the most versatility for single cup brewing/coffee strength, and it is my impression that I made the right decision there. Also, the relatively larger size means I can -just- fit the normal sized dish brush inside for washing, whereas if I'd gotten one of the smaller phins I don't think that would be possible. So unless you're super concerned about brewing with a phin as faithfully as possible to the original culture or something, in my amateur opinion I would recommend you also go with the 13oz, or maybe find an even larger size if you plan on brewing for multiple people at the same time.Again, love this thing, would recommend up and down, if I could only pick one device to make coffee, it would be a phin lol

The " insert' is screwed in
Great product is what it says. One thing you should know is they reference the chamber and the insert the insert actually screws down into the chamber. When the product arrived, my insert was screwed all the way down I couldn't remove it because I didn't know I had to unscrew it.

Vietnamese drip coffee maker.
If you enjoy different coffee flavors such as Vietnamese Dark coffee this is the only way I found to make it. I tried a drip coffee maker, espresso coffee maker and just pouring hot water on grounds but this Vietnamese drip coffee maker is the best way I found to enjoy this type of coffee.

As expected.
Came in a really simple package, nothing fancy;Pro; it’s one of those screw down traditional type of Vietnamese coffee shop filter; the kind that really able to make good strong coffee!!!!!! Has a side handle; that’s a plus!!!! Came with details step by steps instructions, easy to cleaning; soap and warm water; rinse and air dry, a the one I order is a bit bigger than those traditional filter you would find in those Vietnamese coffee shops. About 50, example the regular size 12oz, this one most likely be making 16oz. The finish for coffee were fine, ok, does provide a slow drip, which is what I really like.Cons; the price are much higher compared to the other brand that I also bought, ( which also really like their products ),This is the biggest size they have for these brand; compared to the other brand; their filter were able to make 24oz easy. ( but use those press down plate which I dislike ); once again; this brand use screw down so it is able to hold down the coffee, makes better and stronger coffee; I believe!!!!! ( quality of coffee beans also determine the outcome; I use high end coffee beans; NOT those s??r buds or PE?ts, ( Costco brand are actually NOT bad; I would recommendOver sb & p’s.Anyway; an as expected product; but probably will NOT buy more unless their price drop or go down or on sale, but will never buy at this price; ( I bought this actually just for compared to the other brand for quality reason, I also DO drink a lot of Vietnamese coffee daily so I do already have a lot; especially those small traditional filter; over 30 already. Actually enough to open a coffee shop…lol…lol….lol..lol. I collect them as well. But if you are just looking for a good quality filter and don’t mind the price then I would recommend this filter product for “you”Make sure to wash with warm soap water, rinse, air dry before 1st use, and after every use after.

Best and ONLY way to make brew iced coffee
Bought this for one of my co-workers who kept asking me about the iced “Cafe-Da” that I always brought to the office on our required “in office” days. Thought her how to use it, and now she refuses to brew coffee any other way. Recommended.
