Gets the job done

Good quality product. Very pleased with the tool. Good price and easy to use.

It should be understood that Tandy tools are not top of the line in quality, but for the budget-minded leatherworker who is willing to spend a little time on the front-end sharpening and honing, it will product a nice bevel. Some of these edgers will cut a nice bevel straight out of the package, and some will not. I recommend sharpening and honing them before using on your leathercraft projects. Properly maintained, they will provide years of service, without breaking the bank on more expensive edge bevelers. All edgers (whether top of the line in quality or not) will eventually dull with use, so it is worth the time and effort in learning the proper technique to sharpen and hone. Once sharpened, you should only have to do occasional honing to keep the edge sharp. This is a good product for the money if you spend the time on the front end sharpening and honing before using.

If you do leather work you need this handy little tool to dress your edge up, sure makes a product have that finished look. I will say to take some scrap and practice with it, won't take long and you will have it down. quality is great and it is sharp but for me it could be sharper so buy yourself a leather strop and some rouge and polish the back side even more and it will just glide right along without much effort.

This leather beveler is sharp enough to bevel my leather pieces in seconds! It seems to keep its sharpness forever too!

Sharp, works well. Say, a little tip. Don't just hold onto the handle. You get better control if you put a finger nearer the tip, guide it closer to the contact point. You'll get a smoother, more even bevel that way, I've found. If you just hold the handle, you've got so much tool out in front of your hand, it will tend to wander, seek its own path. Practice with it a bit, find your best angle, grip and stroke.

The edge beveler you’ll receive is not the one displayed in the product photo. The one in the photo is an older (and, imo, better quality) Tandy beveler. This one is the newer Tandy “Craft Tool” brand I have one of the older Tandy and it’s made from higher quality steel and the handle is much more ergonomic with a nice finish on the wood. This one is very lightweight and the handle more flimsy and without a finish on it. You can tell just by picking it up (major weight difference compared to the older model) that it’s not as solidly built as the old Tandy bevelers. Still a serviceable tool, however. I can’t say how it will hold up long term but so far it does seem to maintain an edge. I just think it’s a bit overpriced considering it’s one of the Craftool models

Cuts really well. I’m new to leather work so I’m learning as I go. I wanted to get a few tools that wouldn’t break the bank in case I didn’t feel like I wanted to do this type of work very often. This was a good buy. Very smooth if you are working the weather wet. Cut really dry as well. Come with a protecting coating over the blade, plenty of reviews on that confusion. Pick it off with your thumbnail and move on. I’ve been using scrap that I’ve shaved off to strop the inside edge to keep it sharp.

Acabado fino, cómodo de usar y muy bien afilado. Se usa sin esfuerzo y es muy satisfactorio lo bien que hace el trabajo. Llegó dos días antes de lo previsto.
