Following the instructions, I couldn't get anything to sprout, but I was able to use it anyway, using the sponges in the base of the small cups, acting as wicks to draw up the water, and then some soil on top of that, planting assorted basils in the soil (seated on top of a heated pad to keep the water sufficiently warm). Almost all sprouted and the light was sufficient to get them going. I repotted after the first real leaves and everything is working fine.So, it can be made into a decent little seed starter for winter months.

It does have a timer on the on and off lights for the plants but the water does not circulate.

A piece missing. The most important piece. The one that covers the big hole and holds the 9th pod. Other than that, my dill is doing good in the garden. It has no water pump, no air pump. It's like your basic kratky style with a light.Update (November 29th).Dill was dying in there so I moved it to mason jars and put it next to an aerogarden for light. Doing great now. Though I'd plant lettuce in this one. It sprouted and stopped.Don't buy this garden! Waste of money and space! The light is nowhere near strong enough to grow anything.

I was thinking that I got the right and a good idea to grow a plant at home but after a week the light doesn't work and the water is going out every where!!!!!
