With the way my cats use it, one cartridge usually lasts around six months. The Fresh Scent smells kind of like clean laundry. It’s noticeable, but not heavy. I actually like it, and luckily my cats don’t seem to care either way. My vet mentioned some cats are sensitive to added scents, but mine have never reacted. During the cleaning cycle, it covers odors well, and the scent hangs around a little afterward, maybe half an hour. It doesn’t have that fake chemical smell. Just a soft, clean scent that makes the space feel fresher. The cartridges themselves work exactly as they should. They slot in easily and I’ve never had a defective unit. It’s worth pointing out that the CatGenie AI relies on the chip inside each cartridge to function, so off-brand alternatives will not be compatible. If you have a CatGenie AI, you'll need to use these SaniSolution cartridges. No way around it. Price-wise, it definitely feels a bit steep up front, but when you do the math, the value does hold up. A three-pack gives me about 18 months of use, which breaks down to roughly 15 cents a day. For a product that keeps the CatGenie running smoothly, makes my cats happy, and keeps our home's smell pleasant, that seems reasonable to me. The only thing my boy loves more than a fresh clean Genie is a fluffy pile of freshly laundered sweaters. If you’ve already committed to the CatGenie AI, these cartridges are essential. In my experience, they’re reliable, smell great, are easy to use, and are a good value for the investment.

What you expect
If you’re buying these, you already have a CatGenie. You probably love your CatGenie- I know I do. At the time I bought them this wasn’t the best deal I’d ever gotten, but I also last bought CatGenie refills pre-COVID, and inflation is a thing. These work as you’d expect, at a reasonable price, so you can keep on loving your CatGenie.

Why do I pay shipping too?
I should not have to pay $27 for each plus $5-6 in shipping. Works as advertised. The prices are ridiculous , the shipping cost angers me and the new batch feels like there’s less in it. That being said I still feel like it keeps the house clearer, even with the litter being tracked out. It’s not clay. If someone ever makes another system that flushes/cleans like this and allows the customer to use whatever soap they wish, I’d definitely try that instead.
