I have used a few different manual can openers over the years. The safety can openers are nice but they don't really hold up that well. I always go back to the Swing-a-Way can openers because they are durable. They still have one major flaw, the human/ device interface. Especially with large cans, or when opening numerous cans like when making chili, my wrist gets tired from all of the twisting. And it takes so long. With each turn of the handle i have to let go and grab it again to keep going. With a typical can that can happen anywhere from 14 to 20 times.It's crazy. There must be a better way.Electric can openers either need to be plugged in and take up a lot of counter space, or are battery powered and don't last very long.Now, Swing-a-Way has this made this beauty available. It has the same sturdy design I have known to be long lasting but instead of the little wrist wrecking t-handle it has a long crank with a spinning handle. It makes all the difference in the world. Though I do notice a little bit of flex in the clamping handle when opening cans, it doesn't appear to affect the function of this fine instrument.Now when I open cans my hands don't get tired and I'm not wasting so much time just repositioning my hands as it is now one continuous fluid motion. I can now open twice a many cans in the same about of time, even more.I bought the bright green one so it is easier to spot when I need it, as everything else in the kitchen seems to be black, red or white. Now there is nothing holding me back.

Had never heard of this can opener called swing away, but the reviews were good so I thought I would try it. I didn’t know a can opener could be amazing but this one is it is extremely well-made and very easy to use and should possibly last decades. I got the ugly green color and saved $2. It is easy to find in my drawer of gadgets, sticks out like a sore thumb. Definitely give this product five star rating. Highly Recommend it.

Works great, best can opener ever. Sharp and fast. The only negative is, you have to have the can on the edge of the counter to open it because the crank handle is long and would touch the counter.

Swing a Way makes a great product. I have arthritis in my hands and the knob type handle is easier to use.Cuts very well. Don't need to try cutting more than once.

We had the regular version of this and it lasted about 1-2 years of low use. The big handle makes it easy to turn. We will see how long this will last.

Wish I had gotten one of these sooner. The long crank handle gives you so much more torque versus a short handle. I have joint pain in my hands and can hardly operate a regular handled can opener but this design takes that out of the equation. Highly recommend for elderly or people who don’t have much strength in their hands. Good quality and the action is very smooth. What are you waiting for? Add to cart already.

My swingaway of 40 years finally gave out, after young(er) adults, children, and grandchildren put it through grueling actions over the decades. I needed a can opener, so I bought a Time and True from Walmart. I tried to like it, I tried to make it work, but it was a failure after only two months. I went to my trusty Amazon app, looked at the various can openers, and decided on this particular Swingaway because I also buy the huge cans - 5#s, #10s, all the way down to 4oz flattened cans. It works great on 14.5-16oz cans, but to use it on cans like green chilis or sliced olives, I simply move the cab to the edge and open away. No problems.Action is smooth and easy. I have arthritis in my hands, and this can opener makes opening cans a breeze!

I have severe arthritis of my hands. I think I’ve tried every can opener on the market…electric, self opening, manual. This can opener is the real deal. It is so easy to operate. It requires minimal strength, minimal dexterity and surprising opens the can in 1/2 the number of turns as a traditional opener. Have thrown the rest of mine away. This is a keeper.

This easy crank can open is excellent if you have arthritis in your hands, fingers. No pressure on hand/fingers turning the crank handle. Plus, extremely easy to "connect" to can lid...you will know what I mean if you have struggled before....
