ABC Coloring Book (Dover Alphabet Coloring Books)

I was looking for a good coloring book for my two year son. Something simple with big pictures and letters to scribble on and with him. And this is it! It's an 8.5 by 11" book with big pictures A thru Z. No pointless games and puzzles (i.e. word searches, mazes, or crosswords like in most activity books) that are over the ability of a 2 year old. I copy the pages so that we can color over and over again. It's been a great addition to us learning ABC's and word pronunciation. Bottom line: This is just a coloring book not an activity book that has big pictures for toddlers to learn to grip and draw while learning ABC's. If I can find a few more of these my son will be set until I send him to pre-school.

This is perfect for my son, who is beginning Kindergarten in the fall. We're a homeschooling family, and I was looking for a coloring book that he would enjoy doing and that would also reinforce his phonics lessons. I love how this book has not only the letter of the alphabet on each page, but several words on each page that begin with that letter and that correlate to the picture. This coloring book has high quality white paper, not the newsprint type paper many coloring books have. The illustrations are cute and interesting, yet not too detailed, and are the perfect middle-ground between "beginner" coloring books and more advanced coloring books.

I've had so much trouble in brick-and-mortar stores finding coloring books for my toddlers. Most of those available seem to be filled with word searches, puzzles, mazes, etc. that are better suited to older children. The Dover series that I found here on Amazon are perfect for my little ones! Real coloring books, without all the extras.This book, in particular, contains pictures of animals in various silly situations. Each picture includes a one-sentence caption in which a particular letter sound is prominently featured. Of course, these are organized alphabetically, so the artistic alligator painting an apple is first and the zesty zebra balancing zucchini is last. My daughter is just beginning to recognize her letters, and I think this is a great opportunity to do something she loves (coloring) and work in a little light-hearted education at the same time.

The inside of the book looks like a copy of a copied book. The lines are not dark at all and I am unhappy with this purchase all around. Thankfully the letters are both in upper and lower case and it is a little cute but I am not impressed with the coloring book. This is a full size coloring book thankfully as the other two I purchased were not.I would like to state be careful if you decide to purchase "Frequently Bought Together". As this is a full size coloring book the other two are not. The other two books I am writing about are "The Little Animal ABC coloring book and The Little ABC coloring book." The little means they are the size of a checkbook, literally! So keep in mind to really watch it on amazon as not all coloring books are the size I believe should be- which is the size of a notebook!

I bought this in addition to a bunch of other toys for my 2-year-old nephew's birthday (he loves the ABCs) and he couldn't stop flipping pages and naming letters and animals. The book has a letter on each page as well as animals/items that begin with that letter. The pictures are large and seem like they'd be easy to color. Each page is educational, but not cluttered with too many pictures like some other coloring books.

Fun Book! Each page is a different letter. Easy to Color and the pages are NOT too thin or easy to tear. Grandson loves it and is obsessed with letters!

I'm a preschool teacher and love the design of this book! My kids love it also.

If you've got a 4 yr old granddaughter that's learning her letters, why not give her a coloring book that combines fun and learning in one gift. This was good enough that I got 2...one for her and one for my home for the 2 4 year olds in my life...my granddaughter and my great niece!

この本が届いたときは、ちょっとショックでした。というのもアクティビティーとはＡＢＣのアルファベットを一ページにつき一つのアルファベットの大文字小文字をテーマにした塗絵だったからです。ワークブックを期待していたものですから、、、でも気をとり直して、利用方法を考えました。丁度、アルファベットを覚えたころに（覚えていなくても）ｍのページなら「ム」と発音させてから、「ム」の音で始まる絵はどこにあるかな？と答えさせて知らなかったらmで始まる単語を紹介してから、塗絵をさせ、絵辞典のようにしました。月の横にはｍｏｏｎと英語がありますから、アルファベットのｍの文字を見つけたら赤で塗りつぶしましょう。とかそのページの下にはそれらの単語をまとめた風変わりな英文Michael　Mo!nkey　makes　music　under　moon　at　midnight.を見つめさせて同じように、アルファベットのＭとmに見つけさせて、赤で塗りつぶさせていました。気をつけないといけないのは、塗絵だけさせると子供は理解せず、すぐにし終わってしまいますが、塗絵をしている横で親が「the　yellow　moon」とか、Where　is　the　moon？　Where　do　you　see　the　moon？などかかれている英文も含めてその単語を使って簡単な英語をテープのようにしゃべってあげたら効果が倍増するはずです。疲れるって？塗絵にひたすら暴走する娘を止め説明するのに大変でした。
