I read bad reviews about the trays/cubes being super small, flimsy, having bad smell, or residue that transferred onto the ice, and the ice being difficult to take out. Here is my opinion regarding all of those negative points:- The tray is smaller than than the old typical ice tray or cubes from the 80s (what I know). BUT that is clearly listed in the images and product description. The cubes you will get here are slightly bigger than the ice cubes you get in Starbucks drinks. I wanted SMALL cubes for I like to be able to chew on my ice cubes ( bad habit I know), without breaking my jaw.- As soon as I got the trays I washed them with soap and boiled them in water for 15 minutes to sanitize them thoroughly and get rid of any starch residue (from the silicone single injection mold manufacturing process). I rinsed them one more time, let them dry, and started using them. No smell, no taste, no residue was transferred onto my ice cube. To put things in perspective, i think most people wash any new kitchen item before use for sanitary reasons - It is a logical and normal practice.- Regarding the tray being flimsy – this is a silicone tray, it is implicit that this material is malleable and softer than hard plastic ice trays. This flexible material is clearly depicted in the manufacturer's images. I bought the trays precisely because they are flexible. I have struggled and broken too many hard plastic ice trays in the past and wanted to break out of that cycle. Just be mindful that you must move the tray carefully and you must have a flat even surface in the freezer where to lay it to rest/freeze.- Regarding the ice cubes being hard to come out. I had no issues whatsoever, but I planned ahead of time NOT to overfill. As long as you fill each hexagon (actual shape of the "ice cube") carefully and patiently – which does not take long – and avoid overflowing the water, then you will have individual little cubes that can easily being picked out or dump out onto a tray.My only issue is that I wish the lids fit more snuggly (they do not snap, and can come off easily). Also, I'm putting my trust/faith in the manufacturer's claim that the materials are truly BPA free and food-grade safe. With that said: I like these little trays a lot and recommend them IF you like small little cubes of ice, and have the patience to: WASH and BOIL the tray before use, fill it carefully, move it and place it in the freezer gently and on a flat surface. If you have no time for that, then these are not the trays for you. Chances are that if you read this long review, you also READ the product description and KNOW whether this item is for your or not.

I tried this product because plastic ice cube trays always break on me. Really! I broke another one the day before this arrived! But silicone bends, not breaks! They produce enough ice for my tea, which is good for me. Once they freeze (which takes a little longer than you expect, because, silicone…) I put the ice cubes in a bowl. Then I make more ice cubes! There’s only one problem, I have trouble removing them from the tray. Maybe there’s a trick I don’t know about, but I end up popping them out one at a time. That’s a little frustrating, but mostly cold. I’ll get the hang of it eventually, I’m sure. But they’re a good size for crunching in your teeth! I like them! I would definitely give this product a try!

Love the shape of the cubes and feel like they are a good size. Because of the thickness of the cubes, it is a bit more difficult to remove them from the silicone tray than I would have liked. Takes a little effort but wouldn't stop me from purchasing again. Also like the cover as I do get a little "icked" out by putting trays in my freezer uncovered.

These aren't your grandmother's ice trays, and that's a bad thing. The silicone is very thin, (it feels like you're going to put your finger through it pushing the cubes out).the ice does not come out easily and the cubes are super small. I went back to using the regular style trays. The ice comes out with a twist and lasts a lot longer.

These are great in a drink, the last forever. Only Issue is getting them out of the mold.but not too bad.

I completely agree with the two-star review written by another user recently: the cubes are ridiculously difficult to remove, largely because of the small size (more on that later) and there is definitely something leaching off the lining of the tray into the cubes, which converts to off-putting flakes in the beverage as the cubes dissolve. (Similar to the other reviewer, I ran my own tests, using different trays, water sources, etc. The flakes only show up when I use these trays.) Unlike the other reviewer, I opted to lower the rating further, to one star, because the design of these trays renders them useless. Each tray has 36 hexagonal cells that are comically small: barely the circumference of a nickel, and 3/4 of an inch deep. Worse yet, the instructions suggest filling the cells only 75%, a goal that no degree of superhuman motor skills and patience will come close to achieving. Once frozen, the cubes are much too small to benefit from any kind of gravitational pull to facilitate removal. The trays are too flexible to provide any leverage from twisting, bending or pushing. The only way to coax out the cubes is to fuss with 36 individual cells, one-by-one. FAIL.

Love the lids so they stack with ease in the freezer...

There cheap and easy for the kids to use.

item met expectations - so far! the individual ice cubes are a little smaller than I had hoped for.overall, happy with the purchase.
