Get the Good One!
Excellent scale! I purchased this 5 years ago and it works as well as the day I got it. Simple to use, yet accurate, easy to clean, turns off itself after a period of not being used. It measures in grams, pounds and ounces, plus has a tare feature. I had purchased a couple cheaper scales previously from other companies which were inaccurate and didn't take long before the scale stopped working at all. This scale is priced fairly and well worth the money.

The Perfect Kitchen Workhorse
The Escali Primo Digital Food Scale (8.5 x 6 x 1.5 inches, Chrome) is, without a doubt, the best investment I have made for my kitchen in years. It is a sleek, reliable, and incredibly user-friendly device that lives up to its "multi-functional" billing, making it indispensable for both serious bakers and those focused on precise portion control. Precision and Accuracy The core function of any scale is accuracy, and the Primo excels here. Whether I'm weighing out 10 grams of yeast for a delicate sourdough or measuring 5 pounds of meat for a large recipe, the readings are consistently fast and dead-on. This level of precision is crucial for baking consistency, eliminating the guesswork that often comes with volume measurements. For health and fitness enthusiasts, its reliability for portion control is excellent, allowing for accurate tracking of meals down to the gram or ounce. Design and Usability The chrome finish is modern, fingerprint-resistant, and wipes clean easily—a huge plus in a busy kitchen. Its compact dimensions (8.5 x 6 x 1.5 inches) mean it doesn't hog counter space and tucks away neatly into any drawer. The controls are simple, featuring only two large, intuitive buttons: one for power/unit change and the other for the essential Tare function. Speaking of Tare, this feature is lightning fast and works flawlessly. I can zero out the weight of a bowl or container in an instant, and then continue adding ingredients without complication. Switching between units (grams, ounces, pounds, etc.) is instantaneous and simple, catering to recipes from around the globe. Multi-Functional Reliability I use this scale for everything: Baking: Measuring flour and sugar by weight for perfect cakes and breads. Coffee: Weighing beans and water for pour-over coffee. Meal Prep: Ensuring balanced and consistent portions for weekly meals. Mail: Even occasionally weighing small packages for shipping! The Escali Primo is the definition of kitchen dependability. It’s tough, easy to clean, highly accurate, and designed with simplicity in mind. If you’re looking for a top-tier digital scale that is stylish, precise, and won't break the bank, look no further than the Escali Primo. It is a five-star essential.

Very Accurate Calibration
The scale arrived well packed and in good condition. I installed the batteries (included) and all the functions appeared to work OK. I wanted to make sure the scale was accurate as I wanted to use it for baking, but didn't have a set of weights. Instead I gathered up some small bags of loose recently issued pennies and quarters that I had been saving and used them to make up some "standards" from a few grams up to a kilogram (tables of the weights of coins can be found on line). I was surprised and pleased to find the scale indicated the calculated weights within one gram throughout the range of my measurements. The scale is rated to weigh from 1 gram up to 5 kilograms, so I may test it at about 2 and 4 kilograms (with some more coins) to see if the accuracy holds at these weights. The only negative I found was that the pan was a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but it is still adequate for my needs.

Very easy to use kitchen scale. May not be as durable as some others.
Easy to use, easy to store in kitchen cupboard, easy to set a tare. Can measure in grams or pounds and ounces. Limit is about 6 pounds. Comes with lots of cautions not to set anything heavy down on it quickly. So far I haven't so I don't know exactly what that is about. Weighing plate is fairly thin aluminum and already is showing some dings in a nonth or two of use.

Excellent Bodybuilding and Kitchen Tool
This scale can be used for many things. But I've decided to write this review as a bodybuilder. I started serious weight training in January 2008. Since then I have lost 25 lbs of fat and gained 16 pounds of muscle. So what does this have anything to do with the scale? Well, bodybuilding is 30 percent gym and 70 percent kitchen. I track my caloric intake in order for me to essentially use food as drug and tell my body to burn fat or make muscles. I cook my own meals for breakfast, AM snack, lunch, PM snack, and dinner. This little device is as tough as Arnold No-last-name-necessary and as accurate as an Army Airborne Ranger sniper. I've been using my scale at work for the past year and a half, every single workday, and she is still kicking. I'm so pleased with this device that I decided to order another one for home use. I personally use grams to measure, but there is the option to convert to ounce. One of my breakfast meals is 40 grams of oats. What I do is I place a bowl on the scale, then turn the scale on. It will automatically zero. Finally, I pour 40 grams of oats into the bowl and I watch the digital scale go from 0 to 40 in real-time. There is but a nano-second delay in data acquisition. This bad boy is faster than a Master Ninja. For lunch and PM snack, I usually eat 1/2 pound of chicken breast. The scale gives me the exact weight in grams and I do my caloric analysis. It's so easy to use a caveman can do it. (Well, I'm a bodybuilder so I'm supposed to be dumber than a Neanderthal anyway, right?) If you are a fitness fanatic and want to ensure that you correctly consume your target daily caloric intake, you'd be a fool not to get one of these. On a different note, it's no secret that the majority of Americans are fat. One of the root causes is over-indulgence of food (among other things). The problem is that Americans "measure" food by volume. A "slice" of pizza could range anywhere from 200 to 1000 calories. But if you weigh it, you would know exactly how much calories you are putting in your system, right? The fact remains calories are measured by weight. There are 4 calories per 1 gram of protein, 9 calories per 1 gram of fat, and 4 calories per 1 gram of carb. PURE AND SIMPLE. If people would only take the time and weigh what they eat, as well as eat clean, we wouldn't have this obesity problem. But I digress. Anyway, get this scale if you are a fitness stud, a chef, or if you just want to measure your calories.

I bought the Escali Primo as a straightforward, no nonsense kitchen scale for daily cooking and baking, and it does exactly what it promises. It is light, compact, and quick to respond, with clear readings that are easy to see even when using larger bowls. The controls are minimal but well thought out, with a reliable tare function and simple unit switching between grams and imperial. For portioning ingredients, weighing flour for baking, or general kitchen use, it feels precise and consistent. The build is plastic rather than premium metal, but that keeps it easy to clean and practical for everyday use. It does not feel fragile in normal handling, and the sealed buttons give some reassurance against spills. Using standard AA batteries is also a plus compared to coin cells. It lacks advanced features, but accuracy, speed, and simplicity are its strengths. For the price, it represents very good value and is a dependable tool that quietly earns its place on the counter.
