Stories are great bits from pieces President Roosevelt wrote about hunting (which I could read forever). This is a short book, so a good purchase of you're thinking you'd like to buy one of his more lengthy publications, but want to check out his writing style.

Nice to read “real” stories from such a legendary hunter. Simple hunts for meat and adventure. Quite a fun fast read

A collection of short stories in typical Roosevelt style. Pretty good reading for passing time waiting for appointments or during flights. I liked it pretty well. Just good down to earth hunting stories.

Always interesting to revisit the adventures of TR, especially the early years in the West. Excellent window into the outdoor adventures in the latter part of the 19th. century

The inside of the book is great. The publisher maintained an old look, which is appropriate for a field journal from 1896. I would have given this review five stars if not for the damaged condition of the book on arrival.I don't expect a new book, especially one that's old enough to be in the public domain, to come with a chunk taken out of the corner (see picture). Not a huge deal since I'll likely be reading this book in nature, and it's going to take some more abuse.
